Is anyone else watching the Ch5 documentary on Lord Mountbatten. Apparently he was bi and he and his wife had a open marrriage with his wife having a string of celebrity lovers.

Makes u think. It must be hard to be discrete if you are well known, even if its just in the local community.

Quite the forward thinking couple back then as opposed to some bi husbands these days having secret sex with men

on the hill NordWest of

I don't agree with his persona and character, the cronyism that enabled his career, I can't ignore the lifes lost and the grief caused by his misjudgment, lack of scruples and strive to power. Open marriage, bi etc. doesn't change anything on my view point, it obviously didn't hinder him in his career or social status, so why give him credit for it? Yet of course I don't condone his violent death and the killing of other family members and a local lad.

I didn't see the documentary.. But ain't it ironic that in the present era that Mount battens Castle overlooks what is now one of Irelands finest nudist and swingers beaches in cliffony..

Yeah they mentioned that his ineptitude cost other people's lives when he was in the navy and he did what ever possible to get ahead and to be close to the then king. Bit a git all round

My town

I'm not surprised to be honest.

Imagine all the speculation when old Philip dies the stories about him and his shenanigans....

Funny how this documentary is aired so close to the 4th season of the crown.

I watched that documentary myself. The Von Battenbergs having to change their names because it was too German during WW1. The Royalists keep forgetting their Queen is German! As for Mountbattens sexual exploits I firmly believe his influence impacted on Prince Charles and we know what happened there.
