So having just heard about a roundabout in Longford called Fiddlemaster Tom Blind Kiernan Roundabout I'm curious to know if there are many other traffic calming measures with similar titles? Or even the history behind them.

Wow.

I’d love to hear Google Maps trying to get its head around saying that one in the middle of a difficult journey.

Somewhere in Co. Down

That's some name for a roundabout. I didn't actually know they had names bar ones people gave them. There's a certain one in Belfast I've called it many a name as I try and negotiate it's ridiculous amount of lanes and exits

You really need to reconsider leaving a pile of firewood in the middle of your kitchen...

What an honour to have a roundabout named after you, you can't ask for more than being constantly surrounded people, it proves your popularity.

I was actually thinking of the one in letterkenny because it has a sculpture like a big bundle of sticks in the middle of it

There's a crossroads in Belfast that was referred to as the Castlereagh roundabout when I started driving (many moons ago) Nearly everyone I know calls that junction a roundabout still, even though most of us never experienced it as a roundabout

I fitted out all Dunnes Stores in Ireland so that roundabout was our starting point for directions to all the shops in Belfast in the 90's

There's an underpass under the roundabout with a large impressive erection on top that gives it the new nickname.
