I can't help but hope that Trump gets voted out this week.

Genuinely think it will bring immense pleasure to a lot of people across the world to see his downfall and hope the polls are correct

Anyone else going to stay up to watch it or do you not care either way

What do you think will happen

Appalling though it is, it's entirely possible he will be re-elected. Don't forget Hilary Clinton beat Trump on the popular vote, it's the crazy electoral system that got Trump to power in the first place. Biden is a weak candidate, his only real plus is that he's not Trump.

The US is a bitterly polarised country, with no foreign enemies to focus on, it's turning increasingly on itself. I wouldn't be surprised to see civil war, there are already private armed militia groups openly walking around some cities.

If he doesn't get in, some form of civil war and violence. If he does get in, the country will be in more of a ruin state than it currently is.

I'll not go back, even as much as I want to catch another game while he's in power.

If he doesn't get back in I think he just won't leave when time comes, he'll say fake news, voter fraud or he'll contest the result in court which might well lead to civil unrest

I'm not going to stay up, it won't change anything on the result.

I do hope for a very clear blue victory. I believe that's the least volatile outcome. I'm not a Biden fan at all but it's the lesser of two evil. Sad that the country of infinite possibilities can't come up with anything better than those to presidential candidates.

Any close election results and Trump will dig his heels in. The prospect of another 4 years is painful and scary because it will affect us too especially with the other blond clown heading for no deal Brexit.

Well, apart from all his fails there is one thing Trump can take credit fir . He didn’t start a new war in this world , all his predecessors did .

If he loses - I agree , the situation is likely to become violent , maybe not a full blown civil war , but we will see some serious riots

If Biden loses we may see people leaving the US . Top rated at Google is „ How to emigrate to Canada „ followed by „ How to emigrate to Europe“ .

I know first hand that some very wealthy people of Asian Latin Anerican and African decent are looking into opportunities to leave the US , as White Supremacy shows its ugly face at every corner .

But regardless who wins , the peak of glory for the US is gone all long and the States are subject to the cycle of raise and collapse for empires . Over decades the antagonistic disputes have piled up to such extend that only destruction to build something new can solve it .

Will it impact us? You bet it will

The whole situation is rather bleak. The world has a habit of getting worse before it gets better. I worry that if Biden gets elected will a novel-Trump virus which is more potent, a shrewder operator and a far more dangerous entity emerge...?

Biden is a moderate and appealing to the non-Trump voter but he doesn't have a vote for himself per-se. Same goes for Harris - people are voting to get rid of Trump not because they see the others as an alternative.

I really really hope Trump loses, but a part of me believes he won't :/ he has a very strong support base who still believe everything he says unfortunately. I'm not going to deliberately stay up and watch but I know for a fact that if I can't sleep as per usual, I'll be keeping an eye on the results

I'll be staying up and hoping that Biden wins. He's not the most charismatic of candidates but it's long past time for The Trump Show to end and for him to stop playing at being president.

In true Trump style though he's already got a narrative in place for losing by saying this election is already rigged and that it will be the most corrupt election in American history. Wonder how that will play out if he does actually win

I don't have a lot of confidence that Biden will win, he's not a strong candidate and the electoral college system favours the Republicans / Trump supporters as is.

I won't be staying up but I'll have a knot in my stomach checking my phone on Wednesday morning.

Perhaps it's a grim way of thinking, but at least if Trump does win again it's only another four years, and then it has to be over. (unless he manages to totally destroy US democracy and establish himself as dictator, which... Isn't as unlikely as I'd like tbh)

Trump has given the American people enough reasons to vote for him. Debatable if he had any impact on the stock market, job creation and increased GDP but they all happened with him as president.

I firmly believe Biden will win comfortably.

I can understand being pessimistic given how the polls predicted the '16 election but in the weeks leading up to it Clinton's supports visibly fell apart; her poor standing amongst voters WAS reflected in the polling numbers as election day got closer.

Whereas this time Biden is consistently strong, if not widening his advantage, down the home stretch and his numbers have been holding firm since the summer; mostly at over 50%.

Trump flipped three reliably Democratic states in '16; Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Biden not only has shown strong leads for months in those states but if he were to flip them back then he'd require nothing more than holding firm in the states that even Clinton won.

The "silent majority" often touted in support of Trump by their very definition don't exist anymore or at least not to the extent that dragged him over the line in '16. They've had no reason to be silent; their man won. They're storming government buildings, plotting the capture of politicians, chanting their racist rhetoric down the street and literally trying to crash his opponent's campaign bus off the road... Are those the actions of a supporter base ashamed to publicly admit their support for the current President? No.

His supporter base hasn't grown, he's done nothing but appeal solely to them. The "silent majority" this election are those who are stout Republicans but can't bring themselves to re-elect an impeached, race baiting, xenophobic, sexual predator.

He'll go out with a whimper, for all his filibustering, as there will be no grey areas when the votes come in.

I'm no Trump fanboy, but Biden is full of shit too.

Doesn't matter which one wins, the American people will lose in the long run.

But I think Trump will win it.

If Biden wins, it won't be because people wanted him to win, it will be because they wanted Trump to lose.

In my opinion it will just come down to are there more people who don't want Trump to be president than do want Trump to be president.

I think Biden. The polls said Hillary the last time but they did not account for swing states or silent voters. Also, they weren't national polls.

Trump's handling of this pandemic has been atrocious, and holding people's relief hostage too hasn't gone down well.

The Economy saw basically no growth. It was at a steady 2.3% annual growth under Obama, now it's at 2.7 which isn't great for a four year run. This, along with the job loss (Pre covid even) will cost him the election.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if he won. His attacks on the USPS and his hysterical, mostly false rants are fed into by his supporters. We'll just have to wait and see
