Trick or Treat...

Are people allowed to knock on doors to partake?? I am not sure whether to buy some sweets for the callers, don’t want to buy lots in case they don’t call and I’m left with an amount of stuff I’ll just eat myself or if they call and I have nothing to give them....

Any advice my wise & wonderful Fabbers....?!

Already specifically addressed by Ronan Glynn, there should be no trick or treating this year.

Of course that won't stop a certain proportion of the population

Pretty much! I see DPD & other couriers on the roads 24/7....god love them and with the arrival of the unmentionable in a few weeks, will they ever get a break...

I bought the usual and will just leave them in a bowl outside with the pumpkins. Not sure if any will go but would be weird not to

We are thinking about dropping haribo mini bags into a weak sterilising solution and leaving it outside the front door in a table (with a jump-scare noisemaking doll to scare em)

Lol that'll keep the covid away.

I use a no-rinse steriliser at work which is food safe so it's easy enough to do. Will add in some red food colouring also

I'm clipping individual packets of haribos to a cobweb I'm going to make across the front gate.

Although with the lack of going anywhere there might be a real cobweb across the gate

Would be nice to leave a bowl out for the younger kids except the older would take the lot

Did he give the reasons why ? Surely, ppl could work it out with some social distancing ?

Seems completely OTT.

Well, that's the thing isn't it? Something approaching normal life could be worked out with some social distancing, the problem is the people who just can't seem to grasp the concept.

It's ridiculous. People mingle and distance in big supermarkets every day but Trick Or Treating isn't allowed ?

On the evening, you could stand in your open doorway for 45 mins or an hour, put up some bags on a table outside away from the door for collection and still greet the kids who come to your home (who will remain a good distance away anyway.)

Maybe part of the problem is that the virus lives on surfaces of sweet packets or anything else a householder might touch

I was thinking of a table across the driveway with packets of treats laid out

But who's to say the older kids wouldn't pick up some packets and put them back down

I think for the first time in god knows how long the lights will be staying off at the front of the house and the gates closed which is a pity for the young kids but in the general scheme of things is the right thing to do

You could just leave stuff out as you see them coming.

If the virus lived on packaging, we'd be in a lot more trouble than we are in right now !

Probably the stupidest thing I've heard all day. Coming from a warehouse background the biggest issue when this all started was the fact that the virus lives on every surface it touches. It was one of the first things everyone was told.

Why do you think we're asked to wash our hands and to not pick up stuff in the shops still allowed to open

Its lying on surfaces and cross contamination between people

Our neighbourhood are doing a Pumpkin Hunt. Everyone got a letter with a pumpkin printed on the back.

We're doing it all week up to Sat night to allow social distancing and everyone gets out at different times.

Parents and their kids can go out dressed up looking for pumpkins. Everyone puts the pumpkin pic in their window or even a real one.

The parents carry a bag of treats and every pumpkins the kids find their parents give them a treat.

Keeps everyone safe and the kids still get out dressed up, have fun and get treats.
