Once you chat to someone on here, you're surely gone beyond the winking 'stage', right? Surely a wink is only the very initial expression of interest? What do you think when you get a wink AFTER having a chat, or even several chats?

Is might be nudging you to reply to a message.. or maybe just saying that they are still interested. Either way I wouldn't read too much into it. Once messaging has started then we would (under normal circumstances) look for a social quite quickly

I was dressed as a chicken and Tabs was an Egg....

By the end of the night, I can assure you, the answer to this old conundrum would be ‘Egg’ (many, many times!)

Thanks all. This is it exactly. Surely when you've been chatting, the next 'stage' is a social? Just think winking is a step backwards. Or maybe I'm proceduralising the thing too much

So perhaps there's an argument that the chicken came first.... Before the chicken egg...

The scientific answer is the chicken... and egg can not hatch without fertlisation/incubation (being sat on)... otherwise you just got yourself the start of the worlds first omelette lol

And OP i would suggest its an attempt to remind you of their interest without trying to be overbearing with constant messages?

Possibly very conscious of being a nuisance when not meaning to be and hoping you'll initiate the conversation this time.. or i could be way off too haha

I think the chicken and egg question shall remain forever unsolved!

Regarding the winks, in all cases there would have been no conversation for a while. All they have to do is drop a "hi, how are you" message. Isn't that more likely to get a response, when you've already chatted?
