Is finding a local fwb the answer for people that are struggling with restrictions? I have great admiration for people that are managing well with it all but I'll admit to being very conflicted about it and I'm wondering if finding someone local to help is the answer.

It's against regulations to have visitors in your home right now. This would also apply to FWBs!

I live alone and would absolutely love to have someone over, even for a cup of tea, but some people have to actually abide by the guidelines if this is ever going to be over. I'm trying to be one of those people.

Genuinely wouldn't blame anyone living on their own and lonely doing this

From reading some of the posts here back in April loneliness was a huge problem especially if you lost your job or worked from home

Take the normal precautions and have a chat with someone

It doesn't have to lead anywhere

I do have friends I can meet, haha. And I am! But it's still like, one-two IRL conversations with people a week which is... not normal.

I fully understand people having FWBs, I had a couple of meets before these most recent regulations too. No judgement, it's just a tough slog.

A trusted fwb is probably the only way to get through this all as there is no real end in sight.

But it definitely has to be someone who you can trust and you know they aren't playing games with you. Not easy to find on here but worth it if you do.

If you need to satisfy yourself sexually with another person, go for it. If you are generally complying with all the guidelines in all other facets of life but you have primary physical and psychological sexual needs, then satisfy them. Society would be worse off if your mental health deteriorated and your urges lead you to a point of fatigue and non compliance with the guidelines more generally in your life.

Guidelines are just that. They require public buy in and social cohesion. If your confidence and commitment to following Government advice is undermined by the denial of physical and psychological needs, then that is worse for society and the Government’s/ Nation’s objectives.

Fuck away... when you feel you need to... sounds like you are trying to find an approach to fuck responsibly... you should only be commended.

The narrative on here that swingers meeting is somewhat an evil selfish trait is rubbish. Non-cohabitating sexual encounters are of course happening and will continue to happen throughout society - they are an accepted reality. Swinger meets represent a negligible subset of that accepted risk in society. Risk can never be fully eliminated, only reduced.

The regulation would, yes. Logically if you wanted to be 99.9% sure you were both covid negative you would have to self isolate for two weeks in advance of the test, then self isolate between testing and meeting. (the. 01% risk is catching it while you're out getting tested)

But that's a lot of effort for a ride... And you'd have to do it every time you wanted to meet! Unless you moved in together.

It's peoples own preference at the end of the day.. Harder for people living alone and been single too.. We've been careful for so long.. Its hard on ur mental health too.. An outdoor coffee is no harm. Can always plan the fun for another time

It's a difficult question to answer, on one had I would say yes but as has been said there would need to be a lot of trust and honesty on both parties.

Even before Covid I would have liked to meet someone as an exclusive fwb.

Imo searching actively for a fwb doesn't work, it either just happens or not. Also it's quite crucial that you really click when it comes to sex,unfortunately it's rather tricky at present to do samples.

So unless it's someone you've met before, it's almost mission impossible.

I get why people (including ourselves) are vague about their location, but if looking for a local buddy, then does it not make sense to be more specific about your location?

Not the case either! Once a person is living alone and irrespective of the 5km rule they can form a social bubble with another household for support etc!

Yup, a single adult household or anyone living alone with mental health challenges are both allowed to form a support bubble with one other household! (in addition to single parents, single carers, or those who receive care or home help)

Personally I will not be taking a lover, but forming a bubble with a friend who is a single parent. But I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered going for some D instead
