It was inevitable that there would be a surge once things opened up again.

Back in the 90s, everyone was freaking out aver Pokémon cards. Kids were obsessed, afraid it would lead to addiction, gambling etc. They banned them in schools trying to figure out how solve the problem, but in the end the whole thing just died away on it's own and there was nothing to worry about.

I think we could learn a thing or two from the past.

Hardly comparing like for like.. No comparison between Pokemon cards and covid 19..the government are planning restrictions for the next 5 years.. This is here to stay not some fad

Wash your hands, wear a mask and follow the rules. It's not much to ask.

The rise was inevitable. Masks and washing your hands do work and most of us have followed the rules.

But they're not 100% either. They should of had temperature checks at the airport, and ensured they quarantined. There's so much the government failed to do also.

Do what we can and hope for the best. Stay safe everyone

We'll be back to level 5 fairly soon, it was inevitable. A lot of people are following precautions but the vast majority are going around like everything is back to normal but now they just have a mask on.

We were down town earlier and the shopping centre was packed, no one manning the doors or keeping track of numbers. Only a few stores actually had staff outside controlling the amount of the people entering the shop. It's time to get more stringent with businesses not following guidelines, if they can't be bothered then shut them down. Tough shit, you had your chance to open and you fucked it up. One shop in particular is quite small and had a least 30 people rammed into it.

We can't go back to level 5, the country can't afford it, people need to start using their common sense.

Tesco in Dundrum had 30 min queues to get in today and closed at one stage to allow for the sheves to be restocked safely

We can can afford to have thousands of people to get infected though? If cases keep rising and it continues to spread our hospital system can't handle IT. ICU will be overrun and not enough beds for everyone. That is common sense.

There's the numbers for you and it's continously getting worse. This blasé attitude is part of the problem. It is bad and will continue to get worse

I'm pretty sure Donald Trump said the exact same thing about testing

The increase in numbers should not be all that surprising, and will probably stay high for the next 10 days, but after that they should fall back, then you know if level 3 is working or not.

Look at the crowds that flocked to the pubs last Tues night, and yes I was one but left as soon as it filled up.

So if 1 person in the pub had the virus unknown to them, it's probably 7 days before a close contact shows symptoms and isolates, so a close contact to the person with symptoms could take another 7 days but hopefully had been informed tested and isolated.

Realistically your talking 21 days into lock down before numbers come back down.

Anyway, to make a long story short, there is no point jumping restrictions levels too soon, and we can only be responsible for ourselves and the people around us.
