"I'm of 2 minds about this. First, some people love to be offended and will never be happy. I think it's best to pay little or no attention. But second, I think that when people genuinely are offended by something, they're dismissed too quickly as being one of those people. We've come to a place somehow where we're not willing to consider that we might have actually offended someone, and that those feelings are valid. This facilitates a sort of collective insensitivity that I don't think does us any favours as a society at all. On a personal level, I would really hate to think I had genuinely offended someone unless I set out to. I was raised to be nice to people, be kind to people, and not to hurt people's feelings. But sometimes I think as adults we don't value that anymore, which is sad. Obviously there are exceptions. Obviously there are times when you want to piss someone off. But in general, I do think we've kind of lost that ideal. Hope this makes sense " Perfect sense | |||
