I stay in hotels a lot and something Ive noticed is a bit weird so I've decided to ask the scientific minds on here

I'm sure I'm not the only one that sleeps on one side of a bed no matter where I am

However I also sleep with my feet facing south at home and find it difficult to sleep any other way

My bed tonight has my feet facing North and i cant relax so Ive thrown the pillows to the other end of the bed

Are humans magnetic

Ah now the bed thing I can kinda understand up to a point. I sleep alone yet always lie on the same side of the bed. But on a train as long as I have a seat I'm happy.

I prefer to sleep on the right side of the bed so I have easy access to my drink on the bedside table with my right hand but I have no problem whichever direction the bed is facing. At home my head is West.

Great question but no I've never been south of the equator "

Could come in handy if you ever get lost though, just lie down and once your comfortable you’ll know your facing south.

I always have to sleep on the side closest to the door. At home I sleep on the left but if we are in hotel I will sleep on the right if that closest to the door doesn't have to be main room door ensuite door will do

I haven't slept in one of them since i lived in my parents house 30 yrs ago

And my bed was the same direction as my king size one now

I actually had an argument in a German hotel last year because my room had a single bed...they switched me after much debate

I'm often in hotels every week also and always choose the right side of the bed. Sometimes there's 2 double beds and this can sometimes end up in a bit of head scratching but I was really putt out yesterday evening when I arrived you my hotel room only too find 3 single beds in the room. Fuckit... how's this gonna work ?? So I pushed all three together to make one and slept on the right side.

I would get lost in a phone box so not great on direction but I have to sleep on side of bed closest to window and as for trains I would get sick if I had to travel backwards.... I think it just is creature of habit thing for me but I don't sleep in hotels as much as himself. X

It's just your body telling you and your subconscious how to tame your body and relax. I am the same. Even if I go to other beds I want to be on same side. I don't know about the north south facing of my feet. But the thing is, once you've noticed you're not doing the routine your body is used to, then you'll get uncomfortable. Your subconscious telling you something is wrong and your body don't like it.

Even if sometimes, it would be okay for your feet to face elsewhere. It's just , you noticed it.
