Sorry for your loss op.

I've lost 3 family members to it in the last 6 years including my mum so I know where you're coming from.

Hope you find the strength you need to get through and have a good support network.

Sorry to hear about that such a terrible thing to go through. My neighbour recently lost his partner to cancer. He's joined the local Mans Shed and he finds it great distraction working on various projects and he's gotten to meet new people from it.

Have been through the same myself some years ago. It is NOT easy and despite what very well meaning people will say - it does not get better with time. What does improve with time is how you, yourself, deal with the pain and the loss. But the pain never goes away so it is best to accept that early on and concentrate on keeping yourself sane and normal. I had young kids so that kept me busy and possible drove me even more insane !!

Do NOT sit at home - get out, circulate, take up a hobby or a past time. I took up hillwalking, mostly alone, to help clear the head and then a few other pastimes where I was mingling with people. Keep yourself fit and active and eat properly.

It is all about having a good work/life balance and keeping yourself occupied when not at work.

Sitting at home on your own will kill you.

Reaching out like you have done here is a big step - but a word of caution - too much sympathy can act like a drug and you start to wallow in it after a while and thee is no progress

Most of all set up a routine - get up early, write some daily pages, visit friends you have not seen in a long time etc - just keep yourself busy.

Feel free to message me.

"The sun shines down upon us

and gives us warmth and light.

Then when the day has ended,

it disappears from sight.

Though we're left in darkness,

the sun it has not died,

for it's still shining brightly

on the world's other side.

So it is when one we love

comes to their end of days.

They've just gone to the other side

to shine their loving rays.

That's why heaven is a place

that glows beyond compare.

The lights of those who've left us

are brightly shining there."

Stay strong, Ohpee

some where near

Been there ...life will go on and in time you will move on

Give yourself time to get in a good place nothing will change the love or memories you have for your darling wife

It's great that you have family and friends that supports you

Everyone is different how they deal with things so no right or wrong way to do it

Stay safe and mind yourself
