Limerick

Benny Hill has inspired us in a few ways now (a few of you may have noticed ), but while his material was of its time, is it still considered funny...... or cringeworthy ...... or worse than that?

Wasn't a fan really and don't think his comedy has aged as well as the Two Ronnie's or Morecambe and Wise but still prefer him to the likes of Dick Emery.

There were some very funny episodes of it ..depending on a person's sense of humour of course ..like there are comedians around today who are very good and there are ones that think cursing all the time in their act makes them funny..we all have comedians who we think are brilliant and others think they are crap..like everything in life l suppose .

Definitely of its time. Like the Carry On films also. I remember the music and the 'chase' scenes mostly but it was pervy wasn't it But during that era, humour and what was acceptable were different. But the music and the sped up scenes were funny in a ludicrous way.

I remember at the time thinking it was funny as feck and once while working in a spanish village they had a big screen at night time showing his stuff in the town square. No English required by the audience and they were roaring with laughter

However I also suspect that the women were not treated nicely on the show so looking back its a bit creepy

Benny hill Bernard manning Jim davidson all those type off comics where hugh stars in there day , Wouldn't get away with nowadays but who's to say people in 30years from now will find Peter kay or Jimmy carr offensive...Btw my favorite comic will always be Dave allen
