At the risk of being slightly self promoting (me?! Never!), what did everyone think of The Batman trailer??!

I'm a massive comic geek and uberBatFan and have to say I'm liking the tone!

Seems like a healthy mix of Nolan's and Burton's aesthetic with a dash of Se7en thrown in!

Watched it a few times now

Patterson looks amazing and Farrell is unrecognisable in his role

Definitely hoping the cinema is back to normal to see it on the big screen

Ain't in the making chum... She's released... And would be a good series - if they didn't feel a need to hamstring it into the Bat - continuity....

Same with Joker....

Had my Pattinson doubts as well, but he's really upped his game these last few years. The costume and car reveal didn't set my world on fire but they look far more impressive on camera with the correct lighting.

Liked the trailer looks dark to be fair but sure I'll give it a watch for sure once it comes out. Seriously deprived of new movies since all this stupid covid thing

It's rough. But Netflix is keeping me going.

Just finished Umbrella Academy and Dirty John! Both come recommended!

The last few have been nothing but scutter

The poxy Joker is way over played, at least this one will have a sweet Villain but if its anything like the last piles of shite then it's a no from Kaizer

If it's anything like the supposed source material (The Long Halloween) it'll be pretty solid!

They're doing and iteration of the long Halloween which was amazing. Also, he's in year 2 of being batman, and is still finding his footing.

I love the cast, especially Paul Dani as the riddler. If you haven't seen him in prisoners , then give it a watch.

I love how they're really diving into the detective aspect. I was excited before, but now I'm super excited.

I've seen Prisoners. What a film. Loved the Norse mythos been woven in throughout. Amazing.

Dano is spectacular casting.

Only concern is, EVERY filmmaker has claimed they're digging into Batman as detective rather than super hero and EVERY filmmaker has disappointed to my mind....

Not gonna happen. DC/Warner are opening up the multi-verse.

So essentially Pattinson and Phoenix don't exist on the same Earth.

Wait till you get a load of Batfleck meeting Michael Keaton in Flashpoint!

I'm going to be honest and say I'll see it before making up my mind. I don't like Patterson much but I'll give him a chance. While I don't think the DC movies have been great they weren't terrible either. Love batman so holding out that it will be a turn around for DC

Here and There, Monaghan

When I think of Batman I think of Del Boy and Rodney dressed as Batman and Robin running through a misted covered dark carpark from Old Fools and Horses, classic

Synder ruined the DCEU - soz but that's my opinion

I knew it the 2nd I saw the first still of Henry Cavill in the suit - colour all washed out, a smashed safe behind him - totally the wrong vibe for Supes.

Then WB doubled down with BvS and Justice League and it was just awful.... I'm all for a Batman reboot!

I like the look of it. Afleck never convinced for me, to the point I feel his portrayal can be shelved as an oops!

The Long Halloween is excellent so I've high hopes for this!

Hey your as entitled to your opinion as everyone else but I'll go one further and say the studio ruined the first few films. Chunks left out of justice league and suicide squad because they didn't want massively long movies. I'm hopeful as I do like DC but I'm not holding my breath regarding it either.

Check out "Good Time" on Netflix. Brilliant film and Pattinson is excellent in it.

Really looking forward to The Batman now. Gritty detective movie with Batman and the Riddler looks like Zodiac. I'm sold.

Found the trailer the other day, have been watching it over and over ever since. Love the aesthetic, the dark vibe, the feel, the tone, love the use of the Nirvana song too.

Think I read somewhere that this iteration is going to dig into the psychopathology of the Batman...maybe he'll be twisted into a bad guy by the Riddler? Maybe be revealed to have a split personality or something?

It’s gonna be hard to surprise Christopher Nolan’s especially The dark night that’s not just a great comic book film just in my top 10 best films !? On that subject is his new one called TENENT could be wrong !? Anyway cause they don’t show you much anyone have a clue what it’s about ? Or rumored to what it’s about ? I know I’m going off thread here but I’m genuinely interested

The movie Bat would never break bad - too much of a cash cow for Warners.

Closest we might have gotten would have been Jeffery Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne/Flashpoint Batman... But he's been pipped by Keaton coming back.

I think what they mean is how Wayne/Batman is compelled to do what he does, the underlying trauma that drives him.

There's hints and rumors about a possible appearance of The Court of Owls and adopting the storyline of Bruce's parents being corrupt in some fashion, as hinted by the Joker movie and showcased by the TellTale game... If they're going down that route then it will be a SERIOUSLY psychological flick!

Fair point mate. But do think this is going to be a very dark, very mentally troubled version of Batman, much like Joaquin Phoenix's Joker.

The part of the trailer where he's beaten the goon to the ground, then punches him again twice, completely extrajudiciously, for example.

Right at the end of the trailer someone (the Riddler?) says "you're part of this too... you'll see" hints at a twist to classic good guy/superhero tale, I think.

Can't get into this bit too much as it would spoil the plot but if you read the Court of Owls storyline from the comics it would explain that line completely

Haha totally agree. Court of Owls was one of my favourite Batman books of recent years. Hoping its true. A trilogy bringing the Court to a head would be amazing.

Tim Burtons batman and batman returns were the 2 best versions of a comic turned movie. Plus Prince did the whole soundtrack of the 1st movie.
