Ok does this opening message get replies or does a more constructive message is more prefered it feels like I'm stuck in confused land lol

now I'm not saying that I'm owed a response back or anything which I'm not I just thought hi How are you just simply wouldn't work for a guy like me

My apologies for rambling on so what's your thoughts

We always look at the profile first before deciding how or if to respond. If the profile is seemingly what we're looking for then we'd run with a "Hi how are you" opener and give conversation a chance to develop

If I like the profile then it wouldnt matter what the message would be. To be honest i dont agree with the you gotta stand out and put more into a message it's not a job they are applying for. There shouldn't be so much pressure on a first message it's not always easy to send those long winded messages on a basis of profile. You either like that profile or you don't. I've had great meets that come from a hi how are you .

I agree as long as its not a faf message if they profile is good a hi how are you etc is grand. If the profile is meh then the message has to be really good. But having sent a few first messages they are not the easiest thing to write.

I would have thought the whole point of saying hello is to make the other person take note of you, have a look at your profile and decide if the would like to know more, and that’s when the effort and chat begins, In fact if their is chemistry you won’t need to make much of an effort.

Often makes me wonder about the person that expects a essay on the first contact, if I was to do that I’d have to give up the day job or say hello to someone once ever 3 months.

Just by dolls worth. Meant to be light hearted here and easy going......

Any good CV avoids the use of the word I and lots of details.

Always best to stick to bullet points.

An opening message should be an invitation to view what you believe to be your best possible profile and it's the effort you've put into that which determines if you'll get a positive response or not.

It really depends. I mean, it's not the most grabbing of introductions. But if the profile looks interesting and genuine, I'll reply.

But, as is often the case, it comes from a blank profile, who's just recently joined the site and is located nowhere near me, it gets deleted.

I for one when I get a message like to check the profile first. If the profile is interesting and gives me an insight to the sender then yes I'd respond to a hello how are you. It can't be easy sending out a first message and wondering what to say as guys here say they send out lots of messages with no response at all from women. So maybe concentrate on a good profile that tells something about who you are as a person. Good photos too help and a good profile photo is important as its often this that can catch a womans eye.

We have an attitude similar to this

It doesn’t need to be an essay or clever. Just two to three sentences showing you can put some thoughts together and that you’re not just lazy and spamming. Fair enough the profile might be very well written and thought out so you might say they’ve the hard work done.

But In our opinion, effort shouldn’t just happen once at the setting up of your profile and if you want to meet us then yes something more than the easiest and lowest amount of effort is required.

Why? It shows an even small willingness to get ahead of others and a lack of laziness and also is nice to receive. Picture someone marking exam scripts. They could all be well and efficiently done but very very similar and following the same tried and trusted formula. And then one pops up with something random - not genius but just that small but different and enough to stand out. That script is going to make the examiner really happy - for just a small difference

Sometimes it’s those tiny differences Male all the difference - and we are very very sexually turned on be others mental abilities and ability to flirt, tease and converse.

If you either can’t or won’t make a tiny amount of effort in any opener then it’s unlikely you’ll stand out in connection in person either

With one HUGE caveat. And it is completely hypocritical and we accept backlash for this. If you’re way above our expectations in looks and are just amazing looking in your profile then we’ll respond. But if there’s poor chat we’ll still get bored most likely

If it’s to single men I’d say most will reply. If she sends half assed hi’s to couples I’d say the proportion of replies would drop significantly

I don't send or receive very many messages but most of those I do receive are from people who have read my profile and clearly made an effort in their message.

The ones that bug me are those that feel they've done all the hard work in that initial message and then it's up to me to go chasing after that.

For some reason every other message after that is a single word reply. How they think there will be any form of conversation I've no idea.

In my experience this happens mostly with couples and it's almost as if the initial message has been written by the female half and once I respond all further correspondence is with the male half.

The change in tone and structure is obvious.

I know this because once I draw their attention to it and say I won't be chatting any longer that's when the abuse starts and the timewaster comments start.

At the same time its a completely different experience where the female half continues to chat.

40% reply rate is better than I expected I would say women would get a 90-100% reply rate most times

Hi How are you is fine if you have a detailed and interesting profile and good pics. If you have few / no public pics and your profile is blank or says "fill in later" then no, it's not remotely enough.

You have to show people the menu so they can decide if they want go eat at your restaurant!
