"My routine is totally screwed since Covid lockdown started in March, not working but I still get up early, I too excercise by walking for 2 to 3 hours per day plus have plenty of odd jobs to keep me busy plus a demanding wife and I try to go to bed at the same time nightly, but I still struggle to sleep but refuse to start taking sleeping pills, but on Saturday night I would skull a load of cans and sleep no problem then."

Even with Bottle of wine I’m awake. I must be in some self destructive mode. Have no control

The alcohol does help but Im afraid to go down the road of using it too much, I always dreamed of not working and having time at home but be careful what you wish for, Insomnia is a problem for me but my mental heath is definately suffering by not having daily interaction with random people, work mates, etc

3 to 4 hours unbroken sleep a night for me if I'm lucky. I'll usually get up and have a smoke and then try to get back to sleep. It's been years like this and I've gotten used to it though. Plenty of time to sleep when you're dead, or so the saying goes

No caffeine after lunchtime (it has a half life of 5 hours), blackout blinds (cover any charger LEDs with tape) so light isn’t waking you, earplugs (Howard Leight Laser Lite are the beat I’ve found), not exercising too close to bed time, limiting the amount of liquid you drink before bed, meditation/mindfulness to relax before turning in, a cool room (too hot a temperature and you’ll never sleep -why the shower trick above works, your core body temp drops suddenly)...........all the above will help, but if your body is craving nicotine, it will wake you. That’s my current struggle since lockdown, waking early for a quick vape and then back to sleep (an hour later )

Hope it improves

Like many on here I also have sleep difficulties, most nights are broken sleep.

There can be many causes, consider getting your GP to refer you to a Sleep Clinic, there is 1 in the Bons Hospital Dublin.

I went just before the lockdown, the conclusion was mild sleep apnea & Restless Leg Syndrome... not much treatment for either but some lifestyle changes can help.

For many getting to sleep is never the issue, but work or family issues are stopping to mind from resting & quite often the wakefulness is a result of the mind waking up to deal with issues. So try learn techniques to calm your mind, consider mindfulness or meditation... why not meditate at 3am

Find what works for you but never stress or worry about ur broken sleep.

In the last few months, listening to sleep sounds has become my saviour. It's taken me a while to find what sounds works best for me (it's usually thunderstorms or wind) but I fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer. Now I just need to sort my skewed bedtime

Too much caffeine plus being over stimulated makes it hard to sleep. No phone or TV before bed, blue light keeps you alert. Get into a habit of reading or doing something to wind down before you head to sleep. Deep breathing is great in my opinion for calming the nerves and drifting off.

The main thing that stops me getting asleep is my work like most self employed people I suppose

Since the Pandemic Ive slept like a log because I realise outside forces can fuck up all my plans.

However before that I would never worry about lack of sleep ...if I couldn't sleep rather than lie there worrying I'd read a book...sometimes read right through the night to finish it but it always stops me worrying about lack of sleep..

My mind won’t stop. One minute it’s sex, than natural disasters, ridiculous stuff. It gets very frustrating especially when sleeps so well. I think it’s my nerves

2 or 3. I do regular detox’s without caffeine and doesn’t really help much. It’s ridiculous as I don’t really have any worries but I create them.

I had booked a phyc just before lockdown so awaiting that. I get fierce bouts of utter discontentment. I don’t have it at mo thus I’m very aware when it arrives. It’s probably the reason I’m in here, the thought of having sex with loads of people (totally bizarre).

I would recommend Glenn Harrold you can download his audio or buy cd he has lots of different ones.

I used his pregnancy cd for birthing and when I'd wake in the middle of the night pop in my headphones and I'd be out again like a light. Used to just have the 1 cd on a mini ipod and it would play over I would stay asleep. Used it over several years for all my pregnancies. You can get one for just sleeping.

Without being over crude, last week with my partner it doubled the length of me cumming, and it was a long time since we had done with a smoke, fantastic. Everything feels more sensitive but yet prolonged

"Golden Milk" get the recipe from Google as there are a few different varieties, it's an ancient drink from India, mothers make it for their children to go to sleep, and it's also a great antioxidant and anti inflammatory, as turmeric is a main ingredient.

Cinnamon, black pepper which is vital to combine with the turmeric, vanilla pod or nutmeg to taste, honey boil the milk, simmer after adding the ingredients...

I work shift suffering weeks of no sleep etc, but found this, it's great.

And all the stuff from the other good folk here about blue light, weighted blanket, showers are spot on too

Put it all together, you're on the way

I've not slept a good sleep in years, I've always just assumed it took longer for me to unwind after a long day but I found with a small bit of breathing exercises and a hot shower you can relax yourself enough to enjoy a good night's rest
