Something said in another thread got me thinking and I wondered what the general concenus was.

Mods to me are 1st and foremost members like the rest of us.

So can they not have an opinion on *touchy* subjects?

I think they are entitled as much as any one else to an opinion no matter what the subject.

IMO members first mods second as long as they are unbiased when making decisions we should all treat them just as any other member

As long as they use their opinion only as a member and not with their mod hat on.

When I talk about being spit roasted by two men while a third is waiting in line to take over one end I defintely don't have my mod hat on

It must be very hard to keep a hat on while 2/3 guy are spit roasting the be jaysus out of ya LOL

having been a mod on a car forum, its very difficult to get the fact you can have an opinion on things, yet still be unbiased when it comes to meating out punishment, or correcting things on forums.

the membership are sometimes a huge pain in the ass as some believe you should just be behind the scenes and not join a debate, conversation, or ever raise anything controversial.

Every site needs mods, there only there too keep an eye on things and if people cross the line put a stop to it, there not here as kill joys, if there were no mods it would just be a free for all.

most mods are members of the site for a while and apply its all done on there own time and they get nothing for it, like most site they wont just take anyone.

my better half is a mod on another irish site a few peeps in here will know who she is! there's a lot more to it than sitting in chat..

What are the advantages or benefits of becoming a mod?

It seems they're not getting paid, put in all their own time instead of having fun... Surely a free membership is not worth the hours and hassle?

The hours spent are what a mod wants to spend, they are not obligated to spend so many hours on it.

As forum mods enjoy reading the forums then it isn't a problem to get rid of any dodgy posts etc while they are doing that, so it isn't a hassle and most of the time the forums run themselves.

I like this thread, its a lovely positive one! I agree... every person is entitled to their opinions and I've never experienced a mod making judgements based on their opinion despite the fact that they are unpaid!! Herehere mods, your doing a great job!!
