I think it might be a typo from op probably meant August 10th

Oh, I misread it. I thought OP was saying they cannot open "until" 10th April.

Obviously was just a mistake, April instead of August.

Yup, looks like itll be another while for bars anyway.

Seemingly they had been due to reopen on next Monday, August 10th.

This has been postponed, and will be reviewed on August 31st.

Think government is playing safe, making sure schools open first, pubs will get the go ahead as soon as schools open

somewhere

Still getting WhatsApp messages from family and friends

In pub 4 hours now...no need to order food ....great craic

Or in pub all day ...takeaway pizza for 9 euro from chipper next door ....sign in but no time in marked on sheet....sign out and fill in sheet with time in based 105 mins before they leave

Ordinary pubs in the suburbs making as much money as possible and fuck the rules

So now restaurants have to close at 11. Sorry were they not doing that already. Last order usually half 9.

don't care about them opening myself but they are a source of tax for the country and employ a lot of folks. i feel sorry for a lot of the rural pub owners.

Belfast

As a non drinker I don't go to pubs so I'm not missing out on anything.

I agree completely that many pubs are the social hub of communities especially those in rural areas but if the owners are taking the piss and making up their own rules then they can't complain if they are forced to close or lose their licence due to negligence.

I see plenty of small businesses including restaurants and cafes taking an inventive approach to bringing customers back safely so it can be done.
