No tour buses

No forgetting where you parked your car in the airport

No depression at getting back to the rain because you never left it

Any more?

Quite possibly true, it's certainly improved hugely since the 80s when a tuna sangwidge was the height of adventure.

Not having to get up at 4.30am to get to the airport

Not having to worry about too much luggage

Not having to pay €200 to get the dog into a kennel

no language difficulties.

But on a downside still medicore food, high prices & poor service.

The Irish holiday sector have an opportunity to shine but from my own experiences & that of friends that have been on staycation, well it looks like they are scoring own goals & missing opportunities.

Defeat from the jaws of a potential victory.

I've eaten plenty of shit food abroad and stayed in mediocre places with nothing to recommend them but relentless sunshine

I like holidaying in Ireland. I also like holidaying abroad. I like it because it's different - it's not Ireland. Having said all that. I'm off to the West for a week - the sun better shine, the food better be good and better not be ripped off

Being able to stop literally anywhere to have a look knowing you’ll always be able to speak the lingo.

Virtually everywhere is safe.

Every single provider isn’t trying to scam money out of you or constantly looking for a tip.

Not having to deal with a car rental company.

Is car rental that bad? I was hoping to take a road trip maybe next month and had planned on renting a car

I had good experiences in Scotland with bigger companies. Read online reviews and pick somewhere that doesn’t push the insurance extras (Scaremongering) and that doesn’t try and screw people for scratches, especially ones that might have already been there (photograph car and point out any damage before you leave the garage).

Not having to worry about sun burn

Not having to listen to the everything is so cheap here in comparison to home Brigade who are probably on twice the wage their equivalent local profession is on

Not getting spotted by those pesky gendarmes and you running late for the ferry

It's all relative depending what you grew up with and what you're used to. Sure if you're reared on toast you love the 'bread' here. As for the European breads it's rather limited, the baguettes here are so dense you can beat someone to death with those yokes hence inedible but thanks to the 2 or 3 sourdough breads I survive here.

The fact can pack the big suitcase and leave in the car just in case you may need the kitchen sink at some stage.

But do you know what the best thing is discovering somewhere that is just beautiful. Last year on way home from Derry I seen a sign for Murvagh Beach near Donegal , it was 5 o clock in the evening and it was absolutely stunning.

With so many people staycationing at home. Faxxbook is full of some of the most beautiful places I didn't even know existed in our little country and I now have a ever expanding list of places me and my new picnic basket have to see.

There are some stunning places to visit in Ireland looking forward to seeing some later on this year. Just don't know where I'm going yet.

Not having to sit beside the guy with BO on the plane

Not having to drive on the wrong side of the road (unless you holiday in Cavan)

Not having to deal with hotel and restaurant staff from other countries... oh, wait...

Not having to worry that the country you go to has an unstable government that could collapse any minute ... oh, wait...

...I’ll stop now
