Just wondering if anybody knows what the craic is when staying in a hotel..

If you are a resident staying for a few nights can you sit & drink in the bar like before or are you given a certain amount of time like the pubs ?

I think residents will be able to spend more time at the bar with social distancing. Your money will be appreciated

I've stayed in hotels during lockdown for work and had pints at the bar keeping social distance so I'd imagine the rules are different for hotels

There will be no bar service as far as I know but as resident I'm sure drink time limits won't count

Sister is a hotel manager and I just asked her. She said it's completely irrelevant if you are a resident or punter booking a table for food. You get 90 mins and that's it. The point is to limit people's exposure to each other not to set a limit on people's boozing time. The logic behind it makes sense but most are more worried about missing drinking time than covid. Residents will get first preference on bookings ahead of call ins

Is it only for 3 weeks anyway until the pubs reopen

She said they don't know because they have only been given guidance for this current phase

What about beer gardens? They should open them asap. I've three lovely ones near by, easy enough to social distance outdoors.

Likewise. Not a huge drinker but where we live there are a few cracking beer gardens looking at the Wicklow mountains. Miss the odd few beers with the lads of a Sunday afternoon

Wish that was true.... but it isn’t

I am sure some hotels might risk it. But technically current guidance for residents and non residents is the exact same in all food and beverage outlets of a hotel. I.e. 105 minutes

How are they timing punters?

Do they give you a ticket or something similar and shout time number 32 your time is up?

They say they are going it to reduce peoples risk to the virus but whats to stop someone going to one pub for the allotted time then moving onto another therefore that is only going to increase risk

Do you read the news? Its a 1 in a million chance of catching it currently. That might change obviously but currently its a fact according to the scientists in this country.
