WhatsApp group jokes and slagging going round all the time. Videos/pictures been shared right left and centre of different people, coloured people, dwarfs, etc etc. Do you laugh at it or get offended by it?

Only groups I'm ever into are all about sales, meetings, profitability, staffing and meetings minutes.

Some offensive Facebook groups on other hand... yes I do laugh when something is ironic, sarcastic and is dark humour related.

I do not laugh when it's straight up bullying or there is any kind of entitlement involved.

I want to cry when I see people being offended on internet.

The only rule of the group is no kids.

I don't get offended by jokes at all. But what annoys me is when people actually physically hurt people. For instance a dwarf lady was the victim of a pick pocket in eyre square this week. How could someone stoop so low? I would rather help people out. For instance a very elderly lady was in the bank lobby last week and she looked extremely distressed. I asked if I could help she informed me that she just wanted to check her balance but didn't kboe hiw to do it. So I gave her a shove and she fell right over, her balance was shite.

They don't want to cause too much offence... but then again they have to push the parameters a little bit too otherwise they don't get a response or grow in their art.

It's the same with certain film makers like Stanley Kubrick who made A CLOCKWORK ORANGE or FULL METAL JACKET to show how stupid and pointless violence and war is...

Myself, I love a good laugh but not toilet or discriminatory humour. Cheeky fun all the way here!

I wouldn't be a member of a group where anything discriminatory or misogynistic was getting posted. People who are close to me would know better than to show me that stuff. It's absolutely a hard limit for me and I would definitely judge and think less of someone who found this kind of content funny or entertaining.

People get offended every day...someone is going to say something that they dont agree with...that's life....

When those words or actions carry weight to cause actual hurt...or insight hatred..then it's a problem...and yes there are people to get offended easily...is the joke...a joke or a piece of offensive material?the norm for one person might be something else for another person...just be kind...dont be a c##t and treat everyone fairly

Obviously context must be taken into account, However being derogatory wasn't mentioned to insult individuals. I as an adult would never use that term to define anyone, if I was called such would I be offended? Would I f#$k but its probably not far off a description of me

No I think you should use the block button report the abuse, that's individual abuse. The original post from the op was speaking about group chats people are posting onto groups and how you react to such. Just like in the real world if you met someone who was rude, derogatory or disrespectful what would you do? Most would either tell the person exactly how they felt or not associate with said person again.

Would it ruin my day? Definitely not. Would I be insulted by what someone wrote on a public forum? Certainly not.

Well that is back to each persons perspective, I'm not saying my opinion is correct but it is my own opinion. Do I think it'll offend others? Ahh so you're changing your definition of snowflake now completely.. Now it has to be offending someone I'm close with. Now let me think.. I have a number of men AND women as friends, and couple of blacks, and loads of gays. Does that mean you think I'm able to be offended on their behalf or not? No where in any post did it mention any race or sexuality. You are the one person who have made that connection. I certainly would not condone sexism, ageism or racism and not one of my replies implied any such a thing! If you were insulted by it but not actually the person that was insulted by it yes I'd consider you a snowflake. Take that as you would like.

It's fierce complicated.. so for example if I see a racist video in some imaginary WhatsApp group, then I am a snowflake if I'm offended.. but if I then forward it to black friend and check that she is also offended.. and if she is then I am not a snowflake, but if she isn't then I am not a snowflake. Is that it?

The op did not specifically say internal group bullying or victimisation. It mentioned videos which are always getting floated around in friend group, some unprofessional work groups. Did it mention personal attacks on an individual in a group? I must have missed that part...

I never said anything about people needing to be close to the content.

I have many many friends around the world that could be offended if I showed them such videos, however I wouldn't show them and I dont be offended for someone else either.

Just thinking a little bit more about this black/dwarf video on the WhatsApp group... Those aren't the only 2 options. Either laughing or getting offended. I would be more likely to make a judgement about the person who decided it would be funny to post it and leave the group. This isn't a theoretica for me I HAVE left groups when I realised the kind of content that was being posted. You don't even need to go so far as offended in order to think less of the guy whos taking someone down to make himself look like the big man.
