Here’s a thing (I’ve not actually done this myself) I’ve noticed that some people (usually male) come onto the forum to introduce themselves.

Nothing wrong with that really, except it’s only going to hit a target audience of people (usually male) who actually read the forums. Quite a lot of people don’t bother reading or posting.

Would it be better or worse to have a way of sending a message to everyone of your choice at once, or would that open up a different flavor of worms ?

That’s not what I mean. In most online forums (car clubs for example) the way to get noticed in to introduce yourself to everyone, because most people who are genuinely interested in the club, will exchange views on the forum.

I remember many years ago, finding a ‘sex magazine’ called The Forum, where people actually wrote letters into the magazine stating their intent. I think it belonged to my older brother.
