Going back to "normal"

Just wondering what people think will happen in the future?

My thoughts, and just my opinion, is that people will tire of this as we go through the different phases of easing the lockdown, the CMO/Government cannot lift the social distancing until a cure or vaccine is in place, so if that's the case and we dont get a vaccine until sometime next year then social distancing rules remain.

What I think will happen is after august, social distancing will just begin to slowly disappear, and I'm not referring to the swinging lifestyle per say, but I mean in general, my personal circumstances means I haven't seen my daughter or grandkids since this started, as they live some distance away, and I have been following the rules, but when we are allowed to travel again, if I dont have symptoms and they dont, I will be taking the risk and hugging them.

So I was just wondering others opinions?

I think people will become accustomed to the routine and gradual easing of restrictions and without knowing it will return to normal, but at the back of it all will be the memory of this horrible event

I agree with you. Things are already relaxing. Beaches and parks are full of people in groups not social distancing.

I think we will be forced by shops, work places, etc for quite some time to distance but anywhere without restrictions and people will fall back to normal.

just my 2 cents but, alot of things dont make sense about this (not a conspiracy nut!!) but...

1. a virus mutates, so a vaccine doesnt make sense, if the virus mutates do we keep needing vaccines?

2.on average it takes a new drug/vaccine 15 years from development to end and on shelf!

3. essential workers go work but cant travel 5km down the road to have a coffee in there friends house who they have been working with all day.

4. corona is a family which includes the common flu.

i could list more. im just saying alot of this dont make sense thats all

Totally agree, we will all have this ingrained in our memories forever, the sadness that has gone with this event, the harrowing images ,

But I think that's because its unprecedented, the lockdown and restrictions are the only weapon we had against this virus, and yes, the real fear is the length of time before a viable vaccine is widely available, and how many will take it?

Or some kind of normal, I e noticed myself in work, just standing talking to someone, I tend to get closer, and have to remind myself of the 2 metre distance, it's difficult

Think you might have the wrong thread .

It's just like someone saying no offence but ...and then goes on to offend you or I'm not racist but...I think all the conspiracy theories have been done .

Anyway it was the Simpsons they predicted it so they must be involved

It's perfectly normal to want to engage with people and we aren't used to standing away and chatting. You have to keep thinking about it and reminding yourself to make space, it's just not natural. I hope this time next year it's all just a distant memory.

It is difficult, we are so used to doing things in a certain way, and if I'm in the supermarket I'm like totally paranoid of the distance, it was just being back with work colleagues, and automatically gravitating towards them while chatting

I know lots are already doing that, but I agree, as the reported cases and unfortunate deaths drop, I think people will automatically have more confidence

You state merely facts there but you don't say what doesn't add up.

1 yes virus mutate, that doesn't mean there's no point in vaccines. most vaccines are viral ie rubella measles etc. and those ones are working fine. Covid-19 has mutated very little so far. The flu jab is constanty adjusted.

2 yes it takes a long time to estabish a vaccine, what's your point?

3 if you start making exemptions, it will only confuse, the idea was to minimise social contact in order to cut down on spreading, essential workers have families too.

4 yes there's a family of corona viruses, some cause mild illnesses like the common flu (but normally caused by Rhinoviruses) some are more severe like SARS, MERS and covid-19. What's your point?
