South Side.

Those two are great. But any remote beach on the west coast can be your very own nudist beach. I dont think there are any more official nude besches in ireland.

I go to this beach in wexford.. Its a beautiful beach white sand unspoilt. You would have to walk away from the entrance and then you would have the whole beach to your self. Its 20 odd miles long.

This appears to be a bit of a minefield. Apparently there are NO official nudist beaches in Ireland. If someone sees you and takes offense to your nakedness then you have broken the law and could be arrested. Yes that applies everywhere including on a beach you thought was OK.

The Irish Naturist Association has more information on their site.

Exactly this! Great advice again.

There is no official ruling, it is just if someone takes offence. I’ve been there on occasions where it has be fine and fun and others where if you blinked someone would find offence. So it’s like everythig else. You have to play it by ear. I wouldn’t just go straight down and whip off the clothes

INA web site is informative. Been to brittas one..... nearest landmark is jack whites. Turn off N11 there and head towards coast. You’ll have to walk by a reserve and it’s a bit of a trek but well worth it. Haven’t been in a bit but would consider it again if others wanted to go And was safe

Question for nudist swinger girls, if you were down at a nudist beach and were up for a chat, maybe more.. How might you want a guy to approach you or would you chat to him? Just curious, as I appreciate that many women rather being left alone, wouldn't like to intrude.

In fairness could you blame them

I've had a huge amount of messages the last 2 days in connection with nudist beaches

I dont know half the time if people are looking to play or just nude sun bathe to be honest so I just tell them what I know as I've never played on a beach and that the beaches are nudist beaches

That beach and another one in waterford can get up to 40 or 50 naturists on them in the middle of summer

Caliso bay near Youghal is a lovely beach with enough secluded spots.

The problem we find with this is that people confuse the nudity part with the swinging part and think it's a way to get a quick grope.

It was similar to the nude swims that were held at certain swimming pools, some people thought there was going to be mass orgies at the their local leisure centre lol.

I think too many confuse nudity with swinging.

There are nudist beaches in Ireland and the UK

There are no swingers beaches

Being nude isn't illegal

Having sex outdoors where others might see is.

Not all nudists are swingers, and not all swingers are nudists .

We go to the one in cliffony when we get the chance , it's hard to find if you havent been before but once you get there is a nice beach , we met up with a couple (fellow naturaists and swingers ) there for a social and had a great afternoon with them , nobody has ever bothered us there and find everybody respectful, would love to go today but we definitely would be breaking the 5km rule ffs , it's a 2 and a half hour drive for us from where we live but definitely worth it to make a nice long day away for both of us . We use to stop on the way up at KFC in Carrick on shannon and bring it with us as part of our picnic and of course Mrs v would have a glass or 2 of wine with it .

From where you park your car the walk to the beach is a bit tedious and one you really only want to do once so we bring as much as we can carry when we leave the car .

The other thing is once you get to the beach and the split GO TO THE RIGHT , the naturist beach is to the RIGHT . One to the left is clothed . Enjoy it if you go and remember dont spoil it for others as these beaches are far and few between . Be respectful.

Enjoy folks !

It's worth mentioning again that there are no nudist beaches in Ireland. There are beaches with where nudists sometimes like to go, but they take their chances with law, as they have no legal protection. There is no right to be nude in public anywhere in Ireland.

There is absolutely no proper segregation, and a family walking the dog could easily wander in. You might get away with a bit of nudity without offending anyone.. But if you're doing a sexual act then you can expect to be reported and accept the consequences.

Under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017, public nudity is only deemed an offence when someone is "intended to cause fear, distress or alarm, or engages in sexual activity",

"Under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017, public nudity is only deemed an offence when someone is "intended to cause fear, distress or alarm, or engages in sexual activity", "

But the point is that law applies anywhere. You are no safer from the law on a 'nudist' beach than you are in any other public place.

"No safer if performing a sex act is what you are saying? If so then that’s absolutely correct. "

Nor no safer doing anything, nor any segregation, nor signage.. nothing. These beaches people are calling nudist beaches are just normal regular beaches the same as any other that anyone including families with the Frisbee and the dog can walk through. Nudist beaches dont exist in Ireland, and the definitely DEFINITELY aren't any more permissive of sexual activity.

If I'm not mistaken wasnt Hawk cliff in Dublin officially appointed a nudist friendly beach in 2018 ? And signs were erected by the council .

As for a sexual act on a naturist beach then nobody is above the law and we dont go to a naturist beach for that reason , we go to the naturist beach in Gran Canaria every year and have never seen any sexual acts or proposed to take part in any , there are times and places for that .

We always respect others .for us it's not a sexual act but a life choice that we enjoy .

There is a book on laws on life somewhere if people want to quote laws on what's right and wrong .

Is there a law on swinging too ?? and where to do it and where not too ?

Or are we all adults who know the do's and don'ts?

This is in no way an argument with anybody btw , it's purely our thoughts on what we do !!!!

Well here is our imput from going there last thursday for first time(cliffony). All we knew was go to the right when you get to beach. Walked down half way and set up camp. And togged off. There was about 5/6 guys stretched along beach. After a while we had several walk bys with just a nod and a wave. We did hit the waves and chatted to one guy, just asking him what the story was regarding the beach. Our thoughts are, yes there no signage to say its a nudist area to the right, and our concerns would be how the general public (clothed people) lol would react to strolling into that area and seeing naked people wandering about. I imagine in this modern day and age the majority would figure it out and just pass no heed. We did have fun ourselfs there, but only because there were no clothed people about..and we certainly returning ASAP. Lol

I'm not 100% sure about hawk cliff but I read that locals protested the designation and signs were removed.

Of course what swingers do in PRIVATE is grand by me and anyone else. Doing stuff on a public beach, like some on this thread have suggested, is not OK.

I would absolutely support updating the law and allowing both pure signed nudist beaches that families can't accidentally run into, and even beaches where sexual activity is permitted where an entrance could be controled properly.

Unfortunately such a thing does not exist here at the moment.

No it was never officially designated a nudist area

The pole was put up but before the sign was put onto it a local councillor got it stopped

Every morning people go early for nude swims there and I've met friends and also go nude there

The problem is that for the last couple of years a huge amount of textiles are turning up and the naturists are gradually getting replaced

It didnt help that Matt Damonn got his famous photo taken on the steps down to it.

I was sunbathing on cliffony beach on Thursday too. I stayed away from the right hand side because I found it intimidating as a solo woman. Since I was having space around me and peace I took my bikini top of. About ten minutes went I some dude arrived maybe 15 meters away from me and got all nude. I found that a bit rude but I pretended that I didn't even notice because I didn't want to encourage him to talk to me since I was alone. When I was leaving I saw few other guys too hanging out naked beside other people, children women... Seems that people are not aware where to be naked and are not sensible about it. If I'd be sunbathing naked, it means I'm sunbathing naked and I don't want some random guy to approach me or talk to me. Same applies if I wear bikini. Being naked doesn't indicate that I want sex with the first nude who comes to talk to me. Lol.

Lol. "

We’ve had that experience a couple of times in brittas (Buckroney). One came v close to us and was pleasuring himself. Only stopped when we got our phone out and disappeared fairly quickly. Not a pleasant experience but we have had many a lovely afternoon down there without any bother - sometimes with another couple. Not a swinging situation

A lot of the beach’s and surrounding fields at cliffoney beach and mullaghmore have cattle roaming freely. I don’t think it would be a very safe place to camp.

"Section 18

Public indecency.

18.—Every person who shall commit, at or near and in sight of any place along which the public habitually pass as of right or by permission, any act in such a way as to offend modesty or cause scandal or injure the morals of the community shall be guilty of an offence under this section and shall on summary conviction thereof be liable to a fine not exceeding two pounds or, at the discretion of the court, to imprisonment for any term not exceeding one month.

So it's no about being nude it's about how people react to you being naked.

There is an updated one (1990) where the fine is 2000"

All that has been replaced by the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017 Section 45 (1)

The Irish Naturist Association on their website say that "being naked in itself is not illegal under this law".

"Caliso bay near Youghal is a lovely beach with enough secluded spots.

The problem we find with this is that people confuse the nudity part with the swinging part and think it's a way to get a quick grope.

It was similar to the nude swims that were held at certain swimming pools, some people thought there was going to be mass orgies at the their local leisure centre lol.

Usually just before a

swim i'd get messages wondering if the swims are for real or a chance for playing

In the local pool really ?

"

I get the exact same thing. Drive me nuts.

Sigh. There are no nudist beaches in Ireland.

No you went to a public beach that nudists go to sometimes alongside other beach users. There is no official designation of a nudist beach anywhere in Ireland. You have no additional rights there than you do on any other beach.

I’ve been maybe 5 times, only ever been nudists, legal or not legal, or was relaxing and didn’t interfere with anyone else’s day!

Oh don't get me wrong I would absolutely support proper nudist beaches. But we don't currently have them. Its a typical Irish nod and a wink, with no proper protections because of the lack of proper designation.

Nudity & nude beaches are tolerated in a few places in Ireland but not commonly accepted.

We are a long way behind the rest of Europe on this topic.

I agree we are far behind.

There is no legal basis for this tolerance. There is no such thing as an irish beach being called a nudist beach. There is no signage and no map markers. They are just regular public beaches.

I agree, there are no official signs like the ones you see in Spain saying “Playa Nudista” or FKK beach in Germany. Nobody stares or bats an eyelid if you are naked or not.

The tolerated areas in Ireland have been there for years but I think the Irish Naturist Organisation is making positive steps - ie Hawk Cliff in Dalkey is clothing optional or accepted now I think.

In some parts of Europe it is a sin to wear a swim suit while having a sauna with mixed genders. That would be on the Sunday World front cover if it happened here.

How much longer do we want to stay in the dark ages ?

"Who did it!?! Who got caught shagging down at Sandycove? "

It was a young couple with everyone else around them with their smart phones out

It was all over twitter this morning

This is the problem because I was already asked twice today is that the place I go nude sunbathing and I think we go to the same place which is now overrun every morning after 10.30.

It's definitely going to cause problems from some councillors in the area.

"Was this Sandycove or Killiney ?"

At the back of Sandycove beach sitting up against a white building nothing to do with naturism just a couple riding while people laughed and cheered

The coppers walked over to them and video I saw stopped.

They had a blanket over them but it's going to cause problems forthose looking for official nurist status at Hawks Cliff

Thats ridiculous. People like them just make it hard for those of us who are able to have our extracurricular fun in a responsible way. The guards and the public will see it as something akin to what we do.

I'd hope that people see this for what it is, and not a reflection on nudist bathers. To be honest I can't see a Garda taking this as being the norm, it's two Howyaz losing the run of themselves in the sun..

It's the councillors in DLRD that I'd be more worried about.

I know the main councillor who opposed the sign going up at Hawks cliff is now dead but have no doubt that this will be brought up at a council meeting when the sign is up for discussion again

Caliso bay is a fab beach,

I have been going there for years,

It’s quiet and can be a lovley sun trap.

When on the beach head to the far right of the beach and around the rocks is a lovley sandy area. Quiet and is often used by nudists.
