I've been in work during the shutdown and am sort of used to the new normal now

To those going back on Monday I wish you all the very best

To those on sites its going to be difficult I'm still going the new paperwork and getting all the crews to do the new CIF training but fuck me distance working is going to be impossible

Dont forget to make sure your car is still working and hopefully the work clothes still fit on your first day back

Its a new world so good luck to all and stay safe

It'll be interesting to see how many of the sites adhere to the rules. My dad will be going back to site and I really wish he wasn't. I know the lads he works with and not a chance in hell will they be keeping the 2m apart or wearing masks etc. Good luck to everyone who's going back though

I work in admin in the construction industry and actually dreading going back into work. The owner doesn't give a flying f*uck about safety. He let go the last person who suggested we get hand sanitiser.

I was back Monday and Tuesday. It was ok, had the whole site to myself so was able to work away and brought my own lunch for a change so didn’t have to stop at any shops.

Next week should be interesting as I have to call to peoples houses but I have sent them all a text message of some guidelines about distancing and such. We’ll see how it goes.

See, this doesn't surprise me in the least. The builders that I do know aren't people I'd expect to be safety focused. I know that there are of course many who are and I genuinely don't wanna stereotype. I'm just worried about my aul dad who, despite thinking he's the hardest man alive (along with all of his other work mates) is actually quite old and more vulnerable than he thinks.

Employers are required to follow protocols issued regarding Covid-19. The HSA has the power to shut down any business not doing so.

Yeah but say, hypothetically, she did report him. Wouldn't she then be out of work if he was shut down? I don't know much or anything about the industry so I haven't a clue tbh.

There isn’t enough inspectors to cover the whole country. Since the start of the safe pass I have yet to meet an inspector on site and that’s about 15 years

Yea back on Monday. All PPE ordered and arrived. We have to keep our workers safe if we want the country to survive but I know it will be hard with extra permits to work within 2 m and updating all RAMS. But it needs to be done. If management don’t do it who will

I haven't stopped providing emergency cover to house holders first thing i done was got a high vis with show me two metres on it its amazing how people look at it and clear the room that i have to work I also five questions sort out a lot issues

Is there anybody with flue like symptoms a sore throat or cough

Is there any body self isolating

Is there any kids or vulnerable persons that can move to a room away from the work area

Is there facility for me to wash my hands before and after work

Are u happy to comply with the social distancing guidelines issued by the HSE

I always tell my clients that I have visited other houses and even nursing homes that day and if they are happy i can commence fixing their issues

That’s handy to know. I’ve taken care of hand washing myself with wipes and sanitizer in the van. Think I’ll keep it to one a day at the start and see if I need to adjust as I go along.

I went with wipes and sanitizer at first but taking the HSE advice hand washing is what is best so i do it entering and leaving also use sanitizer as soon as I open the door of the van. Hand washing is the new hand shake people can see u are taking their welfare to heart by asking to wash first and when leaving a little confidence builder even

It's also up to workers too to stand up and be counted. Your health and safety is more important than your boss and your job. Look after number 1 and stay safe

Imagine using public transport to get to work

Ringing the boss to say don’t know when I’ll be in the 7,8,9,10,11 o’clock buses were all full with some 16/18 people on it by the time it got to my stop - then trying to get home

You can’t car pool - so it’s going to be interesting

If people don't complain it could end up in another wave of Covid-19 and no work again and less money.

So complaining is the best solution.
