Pieta have laid off lots of staff and informed remaining staff that its doors wud be closing in june...waterford and wexford now have only a handful of staff now and are being bombarded with new cases....all top ppl in the company have jumped ship long ago, knowing it was in massive trouble.

All that type of work should be voluntary

Duno about that. The service is free to the public. Mentally its exhausting for the staff, can u imagine having to deal with numerous suicide prevention cases every day. Its mentally and physically draining. Dear god,its more ppl like them this country is gona need now!!!

It couldn't possibly be ran completely by volunteers. The training the staff do, plus years of learning how to deal with people in their hardest of times. The work they do is beyond amazing but also so hard for them too. No one could possibly ask them to do it voluntarily

They are sent from heaven, the staff I mean , I saw first hand school kids in uniform to grandparents so nobody escapes, Mercedes- fiesta no limits, keep the donations going as long as possible

.

Was up and about here at home its for a seriously good cause and its a great service i have used there helpline a few times this year and am getting help trough there services there should be government funding towards it. After all the HSE canceled all its counciling and group services that i was soposed to recieve but pieta are doing it all over the phone its a credit to them to hopefully they will get a good sum raised this year even though there are no walks .
