"even when small social meets are allowed I think people will look to their personal health & there would need to be alot of trust before meeting a stranger for anything more than coffee" I can't for the life of me see how trust comes into it, corona isn't like an STD.

"Has everyone read the Government’s document on this? From my reading of it, the likes of swinging events/parties & even just meets between people will not be allowed till after phase 5, which is September 1st at the earliest. Until then any social interaction has to comply with social distancing rules. It is a live document so is subject to change based on new data available & medical advice etc but it looks like we all have a long time to wait to start swinging again. Stay safe everyone " Social distancing will most likely still be required after September, the big fear is that a new peak of coronavirus will arrive in the winter, along with the usual flu. That would quickly swamp hospitals.

"For the life of me I can't see anyway past this thing back to some sort of normality until a vaccine is found Why would you meet a stranger in a club or hotel ever again even if it was only a small chance of catching it " We tend to ignore risks when we consider the rewards to be worth it. This virus may mutate beyond the capability of a vaccine created for the current form of it. Lee

"Once a certain level of movement is allowed in the population, a lot of people will simply start doing exactly as they want, it would be impossible to police without martial law. Virus "fatigue" will set in. Unless people were dropping like flies in the street, we can't sustain the level of fear that would be required for a total lack of physical contact with others." Spot on. Most people are willing to take their chances as is.

" I agree DH that is a fact, but this risk one takes involves possibly killing an elderly relative or other vulnerable person we come in contact with following our contact with strangers. Could you live with it if contract tracing showed it came from a meet with a fab friend who gave it to you because you chose to break social distancing? We will find ourselves making that decision while still trying to protect our at risk loved ones. Many will chose not to care. There's no easy solution, is there L

We could walk out in front of a bus or crash the car at anytime.
