If you have a permanent marker it's just a case of drawing 1 line down and 2 across, it's not a permanent solution but will get you by til you get the gym equipment

All tge advice I give on here is free by the way

"Heya all anyone be able to give some genuine advice on how to start building abs without having gym equipment available at the moment."

Probably the hardest part of the body to get visible definition. You could have abs of steel but hidden under a layer of fat. Sit ups, crunches, Russian twists etc are a good start but a strict diet is essential. Couple of months before you’d notice any difference.

I second this.. everyone has abs, your body fat percentage just needs to be low enough to show them

Also some can carry body fat more on belly and hips so it'll be harder again for these people to see them compared to a person that might have a more even spread of body fat

Filters sure by the time anyone sees you you'll have enough sit ups done to create them

Surely this “look” is gained through mental torture of a severely restricted diet plan to reduce body fat % so low.

I enjoy beer and red wine too much to obsess over that

For most yes

.. I train a lot so can now and then hit a vague 4 pack but Pizza, wine, beers and the filthy stuff get lonely and I'm too nice a bloke not to take them in

The odd bastard will naturally have a six pack without having to do anything but we won't talk to those types

I disagree. I eat about 10 chocolate biscuits throughout the day, I had 2 cakes yesterday and always eat bread, pasta, crisps, take away once a week, usually chinese.

Only when I see my belly getting a bit (more) flabby do I think I'm indulging a bit too much. I also never do sit ups, planks or any ab focused exercises. Basically no diet plan whatsoever.

However I did come from skinny to gaining weight so I have genetics on my side. OP you also seem slim built so I cant imagine you would have much trouble. Without meaning any offence, it doesn't look like you've been doing enough in general to gain any muscle.

I went from 9 stone to 13 stone in 8 months. Doubled every meal of steak, chicken, salmon, with rice of sweet potatoes. Worked out 7 days a week for 6 weeks then brought it back to 5. After I got the weight I wanted (and a big belly) I stopped doubling my meals and ate healthy, not anything like the Atkins diet or any other crap like that, just paired attention to not eating a lot of junk.

Once I came down to 12 stone I went back to normal. I eat what I want and the abs came with the general exercise I did. Also i don't do cardio, ever. I can run for 3 minutes at a time and it's a struggle.

PM me if you want.

Oh, well then forget everything I said, sit in a corner and visualise them. It's the closest thing you'll get to having them.

No, just kidding. You can still do a lot of training as if you were in the gym at home.

I see a lot of people said YouTube is crap but I disagree. Anytime I'm on holidays I use it. Two shopping bags full of items are dumbbells, a washing basket supported by something under it is your bench. You have to use your own imagination really.

2 hours a day training. Go!

It's always the diet with me, i find it the hardest but I am getting there slowly but surely. It's the sweet things, I need serious work there lol. But once maintain i am happy, I am making little changes here and there, but hoping for them to be permanent, so far so good. It is all in the mind. Goodluck OP, i can't emphasis the diet enough like said already. I do all my ab work in my living room, planks, bridges with weights etc etc.

Eat less and move around more.

You will get there eventually if you are burning more calories than you are eating..

But having a six pack don't mean you are fit and healthy. I would rather be fit and healthy and enjoy my food than worry about having a 6 pack.

Everyone has abs. Its the layer of fat that you need to cut.

You need to look at your diet.

Look at your lifestyle.

Your activity levels.

Things to maintain:

- macros (protein, fat, carbs)

- micros (vitamin, minerals)

- calorie count

- sugar intake

- water intake

Once that's done you need whole body, core strength exercises.

I would recommend using elastic resistant bands which you can get off amazon.

They're great. Simple. Effective and most importantly cheap (10-20 quid)

Maintain core strength. Keep building. That will be your foundation. Reason people get really build is from core. That's how I started off.

Sort your diet out. That includes alcohol etc. Don’t be afraid to train 4-6 times a week. Weight training. Don’t half arse it and don’t lie to yourself. It’s not rocket science, just requires a bit of dedication. Simples.

That was only for the first 8 months, I was in 10x in better shape after my first year than I am now on year 3. 2 hours after work isn't hard. I went to bed at 11pm.

I think it takes real discipline to get abs of steel. Both in & out of the gym.

I wish I had time, the motivation all the time to get them but in all honesty, I like food & life gets in the way. I have accepted I will never have washboard abs.

"Heya all anyone be able to give some genuine advice on how to start building abs without having gym equipment available at the moment."

---------------

For most people with any extra weight around the mid section a flat stomach is made in the kitchen

i.e you could do a million sit ups every day, but if there's body fat on the tummy, visually you'll look the same...

Now, if you're naturally lean or "a hard gainer" abs are easier to see because you're body-fat is low...

So 3 simple exercises:

1. Ab Curl

Body weight or a 10-15kg plate/kettlebell/med ball

- 15 reps (with a pulse for two) Ab curls

- 10 reps (ab curls with feet up)

Do this 3 to 5 times (sets)

2. Pilates 100's (with feet up)

3. Back Extensions 3 sets X 10 reps

3 times a week and you're sorted

* always consult a physican before starting any exercise plan

Yes. I prefer the “bad” things in life every now and again such as beer wine and lots of terrible food.

I’d say I’m a good 80-20 on the diet

Abs are very hard to get. Must get your body fat low in order for them to show. I would start with diet first then exercise.
