"First, determine your feet type and pronation from the ASICS US site and then you could choose the brand... ..I always used Nike... gave ASICS a try and have stuck with them ever since... 5/10k is not a small distance and appropriate shoes can make a difference with the pressure/endurance the feet have to take in.. hope this helps and Goodluck." Iv been using standard pair of nikes but thinking about giving asics a go.

"Everyone is different and it depends on your feet. I have wide feet and asics run slim imo. I prefer Brooks or Nike but only certain models. You really need to try shoes or get your gait analysis done in a store. Since you can't do that I'd stick with brands you know when you order online. " I heard brooks are very good too.. there is just too many options haha

"Asics with gel soles always for me. They give you a bit more bounce and feel sturdy and light. You'll need to check if you have a neutral, pronator or supinator foot type in order to prevent injury but they should be able to do this test in the shop. Don't be fooled into buying those expensive insoles though, they don't really help. Mrs " For a moment there I forgot about this lockdown, silly me Google 'gait analysis' and you should be able to do the test at home. Otherwise, just get a neutral shoe.

Were these marathons on the road? Youd wanna have fierce tough soles to attempt that. I dont think I'd have any skin left on me feet after that.

"We got a pair of Saucony runners each a while ago and find them great (we’re going for a run pretty much every day seeing as there is fcuk all else to do). Find them really light and comfortable with very good support and would recommend them. Had never heard of the brand before, but it seems they’re quite a good one. Got them from a shop called Runlogic in temple bar. Really sound Aussie guy there who did the whole gait thing with us and they’re what we ended up with. Worth waiting for lockdown to end and get the gait test done. You’ll end up with the right runner regardless of brand" Yea a freind of mine has them and says they are very good. Who knows when lockdown will end though..

"Asics Kayano for me. I get gait analysis done once a year to make sure nothing has changed then go down to Asics shop in Kildare village and get last season version at about 60% of new season. I get about 4mths out of each pair, tried Brooks in the past and they literally lasted me 6wks. Important thing is regular gait analysis" Where do you get your gait analysis done

"asics kayano or asic nimbus. Woukd be 2 of the better but very expensive there are other brands that are ment to be good like brooks and mizuno but never ran in them brands i always found asics the best anyway" Asics for me, i tried the newest brand hokas but they are not for me, i got blisters and they were very uncomfortable . So back to the good reliable Asics for me.

Imagine glass on roads or foreign objects etc. You would want to seriously enjoy it and be very tough like you say feet but mind also.
