Oh I am so bloody slow even when I got to week 9 people could pass me out walking. I always am one of the last to finish 5k races. It used to bother me then I remembered at least I got off my ass and did it no matter how slow I am.

Keep it lit the getting up and out to do it is the main thing. If you do need tips on how to increase your pace or dostance or both hit me up and i will give you a few pointers but really of ypu are able to get out and exercise at any capacity is the main thing.

You say in your profile you are respectful and polite you might want to revise that bit.

Just an observation doesn't mean i'm not repectful,i was waiting on the backlash anyway ,some people are so sensitive, your healths your wealth, might keep the hospitals less busy in the future if people took care of their health today.

Got nominated but I’d already been running one or two 5ks per week since the start of the lockdown so was no biggie. My main issue was trying to get a decent time! Can’t seem to break under 20mins, unlike half of Facebook who seem to be all secret athletics lovers

Cant message you but to break 5 k in 20mins you wanna be doing sessions where you to 1k fast one day 5k normal next build it up by doing speedwork a day or 2 a week and gradually even do a normal 6 k if you gan get your pace up a little and then your distancce up a k you will eventually be able to go at a good pace to brake a 20min 5 k. Iv done it with 10ks in the past and onlybway i did it was to build up to 14/15 ks in distance and fast 7.5 ks and worked from there brought back my distance and uped my pace and when i got my distance back down to 10 ks my pace was up over 14k an hour and was down to the 40 minute mark. Now im sure there was easier ways to do it but my stuborness got me through it. There was days my legs were like jelly but i just kept going. The biggest problem i had was the mental side of being at work all day knowing i had to get motivated to do it when i got home from work. I didnt run to many 10 k races but the few i did i did real well.

I’ve found increasing miles over a period of time and then running a lower mile ie 3(5k) times are quicker

Cheers lol i ran 20:11 last week so I’m not far off at all but it’s more just a target I set for a but of fun. I’m a GAA background so I’m more concerned with lack of gym/training but I’ll actually be doing a bit of speed work later today instead of a 5k so going to bring that into my routine from now on. My biggest problem has always been and continues to be a build up of lactic acid due to never doing a warm up lol

I just found if i just stuck tondoing my 10ks 5 times a week i never could beat a less than 43 mins so when i upped the distance and then the odd day i did shorter distances at a faster pace it all worked great for me. I also was a gaa man but yeah i know what you mean i never stretch myself and suffer similar effects.
