What's your budget?

You can't go wrong with the Huawei mediapads. Huawei might not be to everyone's taste. My brother has one and rates it highly. Sample link and cost below:

ignites minds to unite ...

If you don't care much about big brands, more about specifications have a look at Chinese Chuwi brand .

Using Hi10pro last two years , not a single problem , dual OS, android and windows 10.

Well I say this what kind of phone are you using if its android then I would recommend a android tablet cheaper easier to use everything your phone can do except for the phone part and perhaps a bigger screen

Dunboyne & Dublin

Samsung Tab A 10" is around the £170 mark and is excellent for general web browsing, email, movie viewing, etc.

If you are doing more serious work, then I'd go for the Samsung S series tablets. Double the price but also much more capable.

This might help:

Would like more info on the apple laptop (Macbook) you describe as vintage. How old was it? How many problems did you have with it? Apple devices have quality build quality and performance. But you pay a premium for it. I got 2017 iPad pro and it's quality.

It's 2006 macbook pro, lol but I always had issues with it. And I had the very first iPhone and one drop and smashed no more good. I just would not go back to apple with the experiences i have had. What's good for one is not good for another. I only go ot fixed not to long ago from stream solutions, paid 145€ for new software, updated the operating system. Not to long after I just went to turn it on and dead as a door nail. I thought it may have been the charger so i bought a new one and nope it still wouldn't even turn on. So now everything is closed so must buy a new device.

So with the phone, you dropped it. So cannot blame Apple for that. Will happen with Android also.

I know that obviously, but I have had many other phones dropping just the same and not smashing as easily. My Samsung phones lasted me years and plenty of drops. Toilet drops even they lived through torture and i still have one as a back up. Huawei phone i have now is a p20 is the same it's made of steel and have it almost two years now. Anyway not to worry i am not blaming apple for anything, i just said if you read back last reply to you what works for one doesn't for another. I won't buy another apple product full stop.

The Mac is/was 14 years old. That is OLD

Windows laptop bought at the same time would be struggling after 4/5 years and even before that you would have seen problems.

People do say that Apple products do last longer and preform much better and your vintage Mac appears to back that up. But even a Mac will see problems. After giving it to that repair shop, and it didn't power up, it didn't power up but just sounds like it was at end of the road anyway. Have to remember what these things go through....all to components involved and the electricity. Probably would have been better to invest in new device.

I love android phones. Think they are great.....but when it comes to tablets and laptops, Apple are excellent. If you paid over 1000e for another Macbook and had it for 14 years that would be excellent value for money.....also considering it will have excellent performance.

Apple iPads are so good, I have bought refurbed Generation iPads for family members and they preform flawlessly. Only issue is some apps may not update in few years time. They were approx 120e on Ebay.

Nope like i said already i had on going issues with my mac book early on. The shop I brought it in closed down at the time, it wasn't compatible with any of my devices for a long time. Anyway your not selling it to me here, it's a no go for me definitely not going there again. Thanks for your input but i think it will be definitely either Samsung or huawei.

I totally agree actually now you reminded of the third product that I bought was an iPod. That also did not last to long either and I had a good cover on it the whole time. Just went dead all off and sudden and was told it wasn't worth fixing. I was so very disappointed with their products for the price of them and the repairs.

I have an ipad Pro the 12 inch one. It's as powerful as my old laptop and ties in well with my macbook pro using sidecar to give another display. Easily the best "work" tablet I have used but perhaps a bit too big for general use.
