Hey guys was wondering if anyone could give me some advice? Today around 3pm I recieved an email from "a hacker" they said that had obtained my details from some porn website that I was on and have accessed all my details off of my computer and are demanding I pay $1900 within 24 hours or they will release a video of me pleasuring myself and if what I was watching to my whole contract list and social media. Now I would usually ignore something like this but they actually had a password that I use in the email. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Change your password and ignore it. I've had at least a dozen of those this year alone. It's a scam

I’ve had this before. Just ignored it and changed passwords. I presume it was a smaller site That I had used the email and password that had got hacked.

Well for a start the only laptop I have is one for my work which I never use for personal use, usually use my mobile fone for porn sites and I'm sure apps or anything on an android or iOS device needs your permission to access the likes of a front facing camera,. I think I'm going to just ignore it and face the music tomorrow if it actually comes to it. Fuck it I'm not embarrassed about anything I have an intrest in. (Obviously I am shitting myself a little tiny bit but I'm sure that's just natural lol) Thanks every one for the advice/reassurance I'll keep yours posted of how tomorrow goes for me

Then you have absolutely no problems

I get about 50 emails a week in work telling me I've been watching porn and they have hacked into my system and will release

Videos of me wanking

I dont even have a camera on my laptop ffs

Don't lose any sleep over it as its just a generic email scam

As already said, Ohpee, it'll more than likely if not certainly be a scam; for peace of mind it can't hurt to change your password.

Be careful though going onto those kind of websites in the future! Apparently they can hack into your phone too and change things like your autocorrect even.

I personally don't knead to worry a boat that kind of thing though. I wood never really be on sights like throws

I got the same email earlier this week. It's probably from an old data breach from years ago. They'll have listed your password in the subject title of the email.

All you need to do is if the password they mentioned is still in use across sites like Amazon, Netflix, Paypal etc, then change it.

It's good practice to change your password regularly anyway. I know when you have multiple accounts and logins for emails, Netflix, Amazon, Fab ... The list is endless ... Then it's very tempting to use the same password or the similar basis of a password plus numbers and special characters.

Don't.

Put thought into your passwords that make them easy to remember for you. They don't need to be a series of numbers and letters and gobbledygook

Pete Panther has to be the best comment here!!

Seriously though, I had the same email before and I ignored it completely without issue. Plough on with new passwords and all will be good.

Fire.

I seen this trend earlier and pass no need. I logged into my emails and the same thing as you described. They had a password I use on the email.

We have received exactly same email.

After checking the IP address- it's reported 20+ times with a few people copy pasting exact same email in their reports from 2019.

Not a real thing.
