Positives of "The Lockdown"

I work in a supermarket so being on checkout, have chatted alot to people during this madness happening in our lives. So just wondered what are the positives people have gotten from this time at home? A guy yesterday is home with his pregnant wife and 4 yr old so is loving the time spent with his young child and also being able to give the wife a break from said child. Is it the gardening and jobs you've gotten done? The time to cook home cooked meals and enjoy them with the family? What are you delighted with???

As I'm still working not been able to do anything at home but I'm enjoying not having the 1hr 10 min commute each way to work. Not having to rush off to be somewhere .

Just being able to relax and not being constantly on the go. Catching up on reading too. It’s great. And yes, I do still work, but from home lol.

That's great still keeping the work mind active but without the commute is brilliant, extra time to relax, wakeup and smell the coffee is great!

Having some real quality time with my oldest two who are at uni, it's an unexpected bonus.

Also,the youngest has been lonely since the second one went to college, she's enjoying their company too

Well I've been decorating my flat like a mad man for the last week.lol. long overdue... but... I think the most productive thing I've done is the realisation that up until recently,I would just finish work at 4oc each day,come home,make dinner,have a bath then watch tv until bedtime... then repeat..... I'm hoping that after this is done I'll start to use my spare time in a more productive manner,it might be a walk,a trip to the driving range or just a wee drive/roadtrip...

There's lots of jobs getting done around the house here and there's no mad panic to get through them. It's really enjoyable. So many positives coming from the current situation,such as quality time at home with the family, everyone helping out with chores ( and not moaning about it ), hilarious conversations with the kids,no pressure to be anywhere...and my favourite is our new found love of board games!! I've also noticed zero flyers or junk mail through the letterbox...that in itself is a good thing!!!

It is amazing how boredom can make the kids more willing to help out around the place! Board games are great too, my younger 2 playing checkers and chess is just awesome to see! The good weather is a bonus too for getting them outside and getting all those outside jobs done that get neglected! The negative is the people enjoying the weather and ignoring restrictions, having gatherings and out in groups...but hey...this is a positives post. Bold girl!!!

I was shopping this morning in Tesco Drogheda, I had 2 trollies as I was getting supplies for a old couple who are stuck at home. The staff were brilliant, offering to help!!

No pressure to be out running around doing jobs. All the jobs have to wait.

I am alone with my 2 kids so its not all plain sailing but I am enjoying lazy times sitting in the sun as I am now. I tend to stay out most of the day normally, keeps the mind busy.

I also work for a supermarket lidl to be exact I do both assist the shopfloor and work the door great place to meet all walks of life any back to your thread I guess the positives of this lockdown is I'm a hell of alot richer than usual due to nothing to spend my money on lol plus I can use this time to get baking again yes I'm great in the kitchen

My good man-There's is absolutely nothing positive about having ones civil liberties curtailed by the stroke of a pen.

Ordinarily I would have a very healthy disrespect of authority.

In fairness, our government did ask us all to behave sensibly and not congregate in groups, but unfortunately common sense isn't as common as it used to be.

Yes I do realise it's for the greater common good, and so our underfunded health service won't be totally overwhelmed by thousands of unfortunate victims of this corona virus pandemic.

Honky tonk Dude- as a vital front line worker, your should had been paid a decent wage to begin with. The unions representing ordinary folk in this country are a joke. I blame Pat Rabbit for hijacking the Labor party, and using it as a vehicle for his personal ambitions.

Oh I wouldn't say I'm completely frontline unlike our nurses and doctors can't complain about the wages really 12:30 an hour

Gosh the amount of alcohol I've put through yesterday and today! People are shopping in massive amounts so yes, the extra people/kids home are costing more also vut with the lack of takeaways, I'm assuming people are eating better...

Yeah I see slabs upon slabs going out the door I don't work the tills funny enough the wine dont get touched much not strong enough I guess lol but yeah people would be kinda screwed without us keeping them fed and boozed up I do get the odd idiot trying to barge their way in ahead of the queue I find it kinda amusing especially when they storm off in a strop for not getting their way

Eating better?

Well, we're cooking at home (I always have) but the frequency is increasing and there's a few beers too many being had. So much for getting Fab fit

I've even been out for walks but do you realise how much harder it is to walk with an extra stone weight on you? It doesn't encourage you to try again

The worst part is that as soon as you get one job done another rears its ugly head. Lol. Thankfully you are getting the good weather to do all the gardens. I took the head staggers and decided to decorate my flat, I can't wait for the day when I can invite people around and open the beers
