Of course it will be....sure the virus hasn't and won't just disappear! I'd say be another 4 to 6 weeks at least!

Hopefully people will realise the importance of following the recommendations and respect the people working and keeping the show going!!

Spain has extended the lock down until the the 26th of April with a further extension on the cards. Expect much the same here unfortunately.

That won't work, people would just flock from areas still under restriction to those that weren't, and risk spreading the disease to areas with low incidence. Any easing of restrictions will be very gradual to see if there is any increase in infections, its very likely there may have to be further softer lockdowns every now and then if the incidence of disease appears to be rising. Until there is an effective vaccine it's difficult to see how else it can be done without risking the vulnerable.

Just my opinion

End of April I reckon, then they’ll begin to ease restrictions. That’s assuming people still do what they’re being asked to do though there’s always a few planks who think they’re above everyone else.

Some countries in Europe are starting the process of easing restrictions in the next few days so there’s a bit of hope there for us all. It’s important to stay positive.

True and it also depends upon other EU countries. Can open up before everyone is out. Else we might spread the infection there or they might bring it here.

Sort of a sticky situation.

Yes, at least another two weeks. If you look Austria who is intending to ease the lockdown next week, their infection curve has properly flattenend, with daily infection rate doubling every 24days. Our daily infection figures are still doubling every 7.8 days.

I know that in the Canaries holiday lettings are not allowed reopen until September, it would be madness to suddenly allow unrestricted travel

Things will never return to full normality until a vaccine is found imo. U will have a gradual reopening of stuff, when that will be, I dont know. The last places to shut will be the first to be reopened. Some businesses where social distancing Is handy enough will reopen and then gradual increase from there.

Travelling to the scale we had it, won't go back for a long time, if ever.

Anyway Canaries are too hot in the summer anyway so September is actually ideal.

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about September for the schools to re-open but what is it based on? Denmark are re-opening their primary schools and kindergartens next week. They imposed restrictions before us but we’re not a million miles behind them.

Yes it will have to be done in an organised manner and we have to make sure we’re on top of the virus but there’s no reason whatsoever to think our schools will have to stay closed until September.

at this stage it will be extended for 2 more weeks....in total Ireland needs to be in lockdown for minimum 15weeks as per HSE/Foreign Affairs department

at least 2 more weeks before a phased re opening...pubs, theatres, restaurants will be last...cant see primary schools open before Sept ..Secondary will only open for the exam years.

I also think there will be a recommendation against non essential foreign travel ... that sun holiday to the Costas will not be deemed essential & if you travel you will have to isolate on your return.

So Ireland for the hokidays this year.

stay & shop local to support irish business & jobs.

In a way things are good. The rental crisis in Dublin will ease a bit. Many owners are converting their flats for long term rentals from Airbnb. But way too many downsides too.

Hopefully we bounce back as a V rather than a U

Extending to the 5th of May, when they made that announcement they already knew it was going to be at the very least 3 months, the 5th of May thing is to ease people gently into this Global situation, this Covid-19 isn`t going away anytime soon, and if the virus mutates for whatever reason, to fight against any vaccine we might have for it or something.....we could all be fucked, and not in the good way fucked....so wash your hands keep your distance and stay home, this whole "I`m cracking up in the house I have to get out" that has to stop because if it doesn`t the Garda will be given the power to send you home, and if they get a taste for that shit, they won`t want to give that up.......Happy Easter Everyone

I think it'll be extended from 5th of May for another few weeks no way can this be all sorted by May 5th.. Interesting to hear that some people who contract covid 19 and are cured in a few weeks can again become symptomatic weeks later so it never really leaves your system.. Sooner a vaccine is made the better..
