I hardly think you're going to get grade A investment advice here..... Everything is tanking, everything was ludicrously overvalued and this correction has been coming for some time.

If your goal is to make a quick buck on the stock market as a single investor, you're deluded.

Markets are going to get massacred as the recession hits. Currencies are going to tank as Central Banks go on a printing spree. Get your money in gold and Bitcoin - non inflationary assets. Bitcoin is unproven as a safe haven so more risk and more potential reward. Adjust amounts as your risk appetite dictates*

* This is all opinion and not investment advice. Do you research and good luck

------------------

My experience...

A lot of the bailout money from 2008 was used by Banks to invest and overinflate the price of shares...

I'd a gut feeling about this until economist Mike Maloney confirmed it about a year ago...

My own take is that shares will drop a lot, lot more and may take a long time to rise again

So no one knows, I could be 100% wrong but would advise anyone not to rush into buying mode with money that they just can't afford to lose...

Just an opinion

I'd be highly skeptical of sometime telling you they know of a stock that's going to do well - it's probably a pump and dump. Or a guess.

I think you'll find that BoI shares recovered to about 25 percent of their peak value.

Until you're certain a company will survive and recover, I'd not invest. Who will end up in chapter 11? What divestitures will they be forced to make and who will acquire these?

Undoubtedly, some will emerge and strengthen, but will we see further consolidation?

A merger was approved last week which usually signals stock price increase. Both fell by more than percent.

If you are looking to get into crypto currencies, now might be a good time, as Bitcoin has just plummeted. Also, there is a Bitcoin halving next month.

In short, every 4 years bitcoin halves the amount of coin that can be mined per minute, decreasing the supply, increasing the demand. Last halving in 2016 and 2012 the price jumped 10 fold.

I'm on the fence about BTC

On the one hand there's the S2F argument that it will soon become the most scarce asset on the planet as measured by stock to flow ratio, overtaking gold in a couple of halvenings

on the other hand, it's not really scarce - there are a thousand altcoins, many with the same codebase as bitcoin, some with (at least perceived) improvements ... all they lack is the marketing and first mover advantage, but if the market turns against btc and in favour of an alternative, it could drop to effective zero pretty sharpish!

Which is why i think BTC should be a low-percentage hedge. if you have 100k now, put 90 in gold and 10 in BTC. If BTC goes to zero, gold appreciation should help. If it goes to the moon, happy days.

Either way, don't put anything in BTC you can't afford to lose. I wouldn't bet my house on it, maybe one of the cars

"Sure thats the time to invest"

Actually (if we're talking equities) it's really hard to know when to invest. You have to be sure the bottom is in. I have a feeling the stock market is going to tank again. It did multiple times in 2008 and didn't bottom out until March 2009.

There will be lots of short-term speculators atm, so high volatility and stocks crashing on the barest hint of bad news or results.

As I said before, I'd be going for safe-havens and I think gold and btc are the best bets (with btc being an outside bet)

When it seems certain the bottom is in for equities i'd just buy the index - less risky

There will be a shortage in condoms, world's largest condom manufacturer had to shut down to comply with Malasia's lockdown regulations. So maybe stockpile now and sell to extorsion prices when the shagging season is back again.

Beats working for a living, keep burying your head in the sand.

Fact is, the UK and all EU countries will have to invest 5% and guess what.... all tax payers will be paying for it, so what's wrong with getting an extremely high return on your tax investment

You do realise you're in the Ireland forum so the benefits bill has nothing to do with us

I can understand where you're coming from in relation to shares and their price going up because of the war after all as soon as the planes hit on 9/11 someone made a fortune on selling airline stocks

There's lots of people that follow wars because of it but dont seen to revel in the slaughter of the innocent

And what does this have to do with someone on benefits in a other country?

I'm no expert, but it is better to invest in a particular fund rather than an individual company. That way, you're not putting all your eggs in one basket.
