Ok so I'm a bit confused people don't want messages saying hi or asking how they are, surely that's a good way to start a conversation, when they say be original what do they want.

Personally I never cut and paste a message and always try to talk about something on their profile.

Two problems you have.

One:

"Hi how are you" is small talk. On here it's a message from complete a stranger or strangers and we can only guess at what you want and in what scenario.

Two:

Single guys swamp the site. How does your message differ from the three other guys who asked "Hi how are you" earlier that day?

If you cant come up with something original and stand out, you're just background noise to the messages that do catch the recipients eye. On here you have to be confident in yourself. Read the profile of the person you are messaging and try to send a message that you think will catch their eye.

It's a numbers game and you need to do.everything you can to put the odds in your favour.
