Please don't take this personally as it's not necessarily directed at you, you're just the latest in a long line of people who say this but it always grates on me when people incinuate that people with extra weight "don't look after themselves" or aren't "in shape", whatever that means.

I spend a lot of time looking after myself, am always super clean, trimmed in all the right places, spend probably too much on clothes and run over 20km a week but I am probably 2 stone overweight.

Sometimes, eating pizza is more fun than going to the gym and eating Kale. Doesn't mean we don't look after ourselves

I eat well most the time, try to exercise around the kids get my hair, eyelashes, nails, spray tans and pedicures done every two weeks and I dress well I’m well chunky but I look after myself I am not gym fit but I am well presented at all times.

I would say it depends on how shallow the woman is. A woman with substance may look at personality and character than looks. However, I can vouch that having a stronger abs will help you with performing some acrobatics in the bedroom.

You have taken the expression used quite literally or twisted it to infer that people who don't look after themselves aren't in shape. That was not intended to be inferred as such. It was quite simply that we would be more attracted to people who look after themselves, not necessarily gym people as neither of us go to the gym, we train for triathlon. We have met some wonderful people who don't have six packs (neither of us have a six pack). As we said it is all about personal preferences as sex is an attraction thing. We wouldn't be attracted to seriously overweight people with no shape though, just as people would say we wouldn't be attracted to anyone over 50. Well, one of us is over 50, guess that's their prerogative. Horses for courses as we said.

My daughter & I were talking about this recently down the pub and both had the same thoughts ... we like to look and admire a truly fit guy but that has no bearing with wanting to talk to or meet them! I'm lucky to work with very fit blokes and they're just normal guys that have to be very fit for work, now that is way more attractive opposed to someone who's fit because they care about how they look!

I would think (perhaps hope ) its more about how one makes someone a partner feel.

Body positive and all that good stuff.

Plenty of profiles are there who demand athletic bodies but plenty that don’t .

This is also a pet peeve of mine.

assuming weight/body shape automatically equals the level of which we take care of ourselves is quite ignorant.

I do keep clean and try to look and smell as well as i can... However

I eat a very poor diet most days, visit Greggs more than i am willing to admit and i am essentially allergic to the gym!

most think because i am skinny i must take care of my self by eat well and working hard to keep in shape.. not the case at all. I devoured pretty much a whole pizza to myself on tuesday, had kebab at the weekend and the salad in the kabab and pineapple on my pizza is as close as i really get to eating my healthy five a day. apart from recently i have never exercised to keep fit (i still have a long way to go).

Absolutely. I've had sex with a few 'six packs' over the years and none of them were a patch on a guy I played with last year, he was 6' 11" and weighed about 26 stone, sex with him was was fucking awesome.

Personally..... I prefer a good dad bod.

Six packs and muscles do nothing for me.

But it does depend on the person as a whole.

As for me.....yes I'm slightly podgy around the middle. Yes I have kids so my body isn't what it used to be. Yes I gym 5-6 times a week (not that you'd know it). Each to their own.....if I am attracted to a person, then there's an attraction.

Well said. P.S 20k a week .... still carrying weight .... it’s called “skinny fat” a classic symptom of jogging. Try sprint runs. A 20 minute workout is so much better then an hour jog session
