yes i’m sure the site is full of them offering their service for free, but i’m actually looking for those who take it a little more serious, ive recently got myself a Nikon D7000 and looking for others specifically in liverpool who enjoy the outdoors and taking some photos of this beautiful planet we’re on.

I have a sony cx350, but due to work don't get as much time as i would like to use it. but am a big fan of sunsets and sunrises and landscape. still not got in to take pictures of models thats on the long to do list

That is a great choice of camera, I have an Olympus PEN E-PL6 myself.

I travel and take landscape/scenary photos including waterfalls, but also animals and flowers too along with the moon.

i’ve not got a tripod yet but will hopefully have one come the summer, just so i can dabble with time lapse photos

I have a Canon 50D. Its about 10 years old but it does everything I need of it.

I used to do motorsport photography at Oulton Park then went into wildlife with some touches of portrait and glamour in there as a side income.

18-55mm is great for wide angle lanscapes and it gives you a bit of zoom for when its needed. I have a 10-20mm for really wide angle shots and a few filters.

Agreed. That and a graduated filter. A circular polariser is also great for bringing out the blues of a sky or giving water some great effects.

I've toured around the Isle of Skye, Glencoe and Isle of Mull. Its amazing scenery up there yes.

Yessss OP, a keen interest even in the amateur side of photography will soon get you out and about, gets ya interested in all sorts of subject matter so it's a fairly good pursuit. Be warned though, no real need to run out an expend a fortune on stuff you'll never use...rather try it and add to any necessary auxilliary items as you go. invest in a few decent quality all-rounder lenses and some good photo-editing software likes of PS-LRoom is ok for starters, you'll be able to pick it up in no time. Plenty free and not-so-free s/ware to choose from. The money is in the glassware, suggest go for best the budget allows...they're mostly backwards compatible for same system bodies. I tend to consider resale value if it turns out they don't get much use over time. Plenty of other brand compatibles out there (at easier prices!) also some with VERY decent Image Quality. Faves are 35mm and 85mm 1.8 for portraits (neither were expensive glass), the workhorse Nifty 50mm for messing about..anywhere from 12-35mm works ok depending on tastes for landscape and reportage style..and blah blah blah with the yadda yadda yadda. Lol is this heading thread-long into Lens Porn territory? hope not but sure it's maybe inevitable. Good luck with it anyhow, it's fairly rewarding when you find your stride and strike rate increases. Nikon are best by far what I like is the lenses I had at college to many years back to admit to but digital didn't exists then fit on my d700 and d3 and basic camera control layout is still same canon and all the others change everything every five mins

Plus Nikon are just better built last for years even in my clumsy hands

It's great hobby and it can take you in so many directions now with stuff like photoshop your creativity is limitless perfect hobby for a fabber I think

Sony Alpha 700 and 900 and a gammot of lenses. Macro, landscape and wildlife are my interests.

Have a few older cameras I've put on a display shelf with odds Abdul sods too, even my first 35mm camera given to me from my Dad many many moons ago.

Best way I can suggest is finding a studio close by that holds a group night with a hired model so you can go with other photographers and all collaborate on ideas.

Purpleport.com has lots of ideas and is an online portfolio.

My main body now is 5d mkiii. Shot some pro work in the past weddings as well as some promo bits for a photography lighting supplier. I prefer to shoot models as well as been a light painter. I'm not a lover of landscape work as I tend to use flash and various controlled lighting when I shoot. Natural light is great when it works which it never seems to do when I want it to.

D7000 is a bloody fantasic camera, was my work horse for years alongside my D300s before I went with the D600 and D750. Still have my D7000 but that's more for photo booth. I've slowly been shifting to Fuji as i love the retro styling of the X-T series, manual controls and the images it produces

Canon EOS750D, 10-18mmEFS, 18-55mmEFS, 18-135mmEFS, 55-250mmEFS, 50mmEF & Sigma 150-600mm.

Landscapes, travel photography and airshows are my interests. Would like to try black and white glamour and erotica but very difficult to find models.

Had an very large quantity of Minolta 35mm kit that sat unused for many years after I bought a compact digital camera. I worked my way through an early Nikon digital compact then a Canon IXUS and finally a Panasonic before becoming frustrated with the limitations of compacts and switched to a DSLR. Although the 750D is described as an entry level DSLR it has more features than I'll ever use. It may not be as robust as the full frame 'professional' DSLRs but then again I don't expose it to harsh conditions and rough usage.

Haven't read this whole thread (yet), but amateur photographer here (Mr). Sony shooter (a6300), and also enjoy using studio lights (and have a small collection) .

I've done a few model shoots, both studio and location. Trying to get a few more shots of the two of us now though. There never seems to be the time!

Happy to shoot others, but not specifically looking for that, and should really get more of us first!

I love photography and regularly take pics at concerts , I also submit pics to gurushots app for fun.

All I use is a Nikon bridge camera and my trusty iPhone ( sometimes better pics) though I have now changed to the S10 solely for the camera

I was recently on a photography course and most and cannon this and nikon that cameras, pentax . I joked about what I used and the instructor backed me up saying it's what you capture at the moment . So an expensive camera can be just as good as a smart phone - I thi k it's more of a case of do you have good eye for a pic

Yeah it is a big jump - i recently had a play around with a D850 and was blown away but thats a massive step up in investment. I only buy FX lenses so that when i do eventually go full frame im not going to have to buy all new glass

practice practice practice set up an object to shoot change one setting at a time Fstops go from low to high see what happens do the same with shutter speed then iso you can leatn a lot that way .put it on Auto observe the setiings it uses alter the settings slowly and see what happens .learn how light alters your pics as i say practice practice practice

I have been surprised this site hasn't got more serious photographers myself.

Neutral density filters are useful if you’re doing landscapes... allows you to do longer exposures in bright sunlight.. great for waterfalls etc....

yep - i use a 10 stop & 6 stop ND filter for mega long exposures. Its not for everybody but at the very least people should try a polariser as a minimum i would suggest

Remember the camera is only as good as its lens....

Also...If anyone is new to photograghy go on wish they have some great deals..shoulder straps filters tripods difusers theres everything on there lots are just pay postage...you will be surprised how much you save...

and the person using it - although i will admit photography didnt really click for me until i ditched the crappy kit lens i had and stumped up a pile of cash for a Sigma 17-55 2.8 - once i started using that lens and getting the kind of quality images i was aiming for its started snowballing for me.

Ian is a keen photographer , he likes motorsport , fast jets and taking photos of our meets , he uses a Nikon D7100 with 18-105 kit lense for the meet pics , but has a few different lenses and his latest addition is a sigma 150-600sport

Well well well, that was a good read and catch up of some lensrotica... complete amateur in Cornwall with an old ish d3200 and lens collection of 18-55 Nikon, tamron 18-200 and sigma 75-300, need to get out and about to get back into landscape photography, spent too long taking pictures of cars!

Can confirm the Nikon reliability, mine has been for swim several times and got very dirty and even been nearly spray painted!

My old Nikon F601m film SLR has survived being dropped from a wall into a flower bed.... But can't beat the Praktica BX20S which has been down the stairs, dropped on a stone floor, attacked by a penguin and is still going. Mind you my 100 year old Kodak Brownie takes the award for longevity.

My old Nikon D50 was only replaced after 13 years because the D7100 is so much better in low light. The D50 still works. Nikon build good cameras.
