How to say thanks but no thanks

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I've had quite a few guys get annoyed if I don't reply to their message to say I'm not interested but feel bad turning people down and don't really know what to say.

It can be that I don't fancy their pictures or just don't click with their message.

Any advice on what you want to hear guys?

Wait for someone posting the Fab rule on this thread..

But it is always nice if you can reply, saying no thanks and so on ..and if they are not for you, ever..block them, once your no thanks message as been sent.

Even if there are no face pics? Or friend only pics

If you’re feeling bad saying ‘no’ just delete the message and most guys will get it. But honesty is the best policy. A ‘no thanks’ is always appreciated. By me anyway.

I say "thank you for your message but not for me, happy fabbing"

mostly people accept it and either delete or say ok thanks for the reply.

some ask why so I just delete that rather than get into conversation about there not being an attraction

Some do come back with insults or nasty replies, just delete and block those x

If profile does not appeal to me, then yes.

"Sorry, but it's a no thanks from me"

Don't sugarcoat it, or dance around it with an essay. Short n to the point works best.

Actually it can get nasty, so be careful with any reply. A guy asked me if he was repulsive and if I was just a tease etc..ended up blocking him. What was he expecting after insults I would change my mind ?

There is never a perfect way to say no, unfortunately

We say sorry we're not a match. We feel that covers wide enough range of reasons.

"Sorry you arent what im looking for. Good luck though." Usually works for me. However i have had the odd guy demanding to know why they arent the sex gods they assumed they are. Delete and block.

You can make it less specific about them and keep it wholly about you, just tell them you are not pursuing things etc.

But don't feel you have to offer any update on your evaluation of them. You can just wish them luck or block and move on.

Well they want to hear that you fancy them. Just say ‘you’re not what I’m seeking’ and block them.

Just say "no thanks just not attracted" because from the information and what you have seen you are not.

Unfortunatly for every guy like urself there are 5 that will take an answer of any kind as an invitation to harass u into changing ur mind or reply with some abusive remark. X

Thing is if you do reply and dont block then at a point in the future you apply any filters, they can get round them and keep messaging you

If it’s someone who fits the criteria I ask for in my profile, a polite no thanks then a block if they message again.

If it’s someone who hasn’t read or has ignored my profile text, it’s a delete and usually block.

It's generally when I've deleted the messages that they have got arsy

I'm used to messages sent just being read and deleted. But occasionally it would be nice to get a "thanks for your interest, but you aren't what I'm looking for" or similar.

Thank you for your message, but no thank you.

Is what I write but only if they've sent me a reasonable message if it's just say "hello naughty" I just move on

Polite, but to the point. If they get arsy with that or don't accept it, just block them.

Politeness is a good start and none of your bog standard of brush offs Eg thanks but no thanks. Not my type sorry leave the guy with a bit of pride.

Ask yourself how you would like to hear a no thanks and try that.
