Starting a message

Good evening all I am just looking for a little bit of advice on how to start a message rather than the standard hey how you doing etc, I’ve not had much luck on here, I’m wondering if this maybe the reason why? Any help would be much appreciated.

Just say something nice about your chosen victim.

Say something about yourself.

Lastly ask a question, that way they are more inclined to reply.

Good luck, be nice and be positive as no body likes a loser.

OP know this thread is about message advice and I'll come to that in a minute, but you need to also bear in mind that a lot of people will look at a profile before even opening a message - so you need to consider if yours is up to scratch - I see you asked for profile advice a few weeks back so maybe revisit that thread and see if anything needs changing.

As for opening messages, I rarely send unsolicited ones (as I tend to prefer to use the forums to get to know people and spark conversations from there) but of the 5 or 6 that I have sent of that kind only one didn't get a response - now they may not have progressed as far as a meet but at least a response is a good start right?

My approach when I do send them is as follows:

- Read the profile of the recipient carefully and make sure there's a good match to what you are looking for.

- Pick out key points from their profile to mention, ask questions about, or simply compliment.

- Introduce yourself briefly and tell them something they can't read in your profile

- Tell them why you're writing and why you think you'd like to meet them, and why you think they might want to meet you.

- Make your message long enough to hold their interest but not so long that it turns into war and peace.

- Be polite and respectful and avoid being overly sexual

- Invite them to look at your profile and tell them you'd be open to chatting further if they were

- Spell/grammar check it before pressing send.

Take all that on board and you won't go too far wrong - it's no guarantee of course and sometimes it does just come down to luck as to whether it's read or not.
