Im new to this,and im sure there are many others who would like to be gently introduced,to the swinging scene.Starting with soft swing ,watching or just the first meeting for a chat would allow more people to take the plunge without going to far on the first meet

OP just take everything at a pace you feel comfortable with.

A large number of people only meet socially for a first meet. Some have several socials with the same person/couple before they have a play meet.

If you just want to watch others playing then visiting a club is a great place to start although they can be expensive for single men.

You can mingle and socialise with other swingers and there is no pressure or expectation to play. Clubs have open play areas and special viewing areas for this who like to watch and be watched.
