Just back from a drive to the shops, was listening to Iron Maiden in the car. Saw Motorhead over half a dozen times live. Also seen both Steel Panther and Rammstein the last time both played the UK. Used to have a photo on my profile of me in a Megadeth t-shirt.

There's plenty of rockers and metalheads around it's just rock and metal are dying fast .. it's upsetting, but the truth .. the younger generation don't hear it anymore.

If you think about it can you name one proper rock band that has come about within the last 5-10 years?

Not counting skindred

did anyone see the set benji webb from skindred did with korn at download ?

Dying? Are you kidding, there are more bands around now than ever. If you go to gigs you would see that lots of younger people are into rock. The issue with bands being able to make it big is down to there being so many and the way in which the music business works now.

I grew up with a rock n roll bass player for a dad so it wasn't long before I migrated from Dr feel good and the eagles onto the likes of deep purple, anthrax and Judas priest. Never looked back. Although a musician myself I prefer the more melodic such as dream theater or the riff driven such as acdc and wolfmother.

For those about to rock......

I've become a Classic Rock fan.. I say 'become' because when I got in to it it wasn't classic yet

so... Rush, Deep Purple, Rainbow (First gig I went to- 1981!) AC/DC. Iron Maiden etc... and I've still got more hair than most of them have now

.....I also like folk-rock but that's another story.

yep into all kinds of music including this. Happy memories of watching the early Goth acts as a teenager, The Cult when they were still Death Cult (showing ones age lol). As per other threads, doing Download/Bloodstock plus a few punk shows this year (Subs/Damned). Not doing Hellfest this year but have been in past

Gutted your not going to DL this year "

Unfortunately not, we have a new arrival since November, so all available funds are going towards him at the minute. To be fair, I was more excited about last years line up myself.

Both love rock music tattoos and swinging.

We have tried combining all three and find it really difficult, we looked for meets at a Biffy Clyro gig and Frank Turner and had no interest.

Nephilim such an underrated band! Saw them when Janes Addiction opened for them, now that was a gig!

Quite often. It used to be a nightmare to get to from Shirley but saw many great bands there (Enuff Z'Nuff springs to mind)

I miss jb's, its a shame it is no more as it was a great rock club. I was a regular there 5 or 6 nights a week for many years and got to see thousands of concerts there over the years. Happy days.

I'm into all sorts of rock and do 2/3 gigs a month as well as festivals, usually on my own. Would be great if some of us could meet up at gigs and get together for some fun afterwards.

I went to college near there for a few years until recently, and I can't picture where the entrance was! I remember it closing though, shame, I would have liked to go again!
