Unread sent messages

Hi all,

I have, over the last month sent many messages out that are still showing as being unread.

Would it be impolite to send a message again??

What is the protocol in this type of situation??

Currently I have only had one message replied to and it's a little demoralising

No reply means they are not interested.

the sites FAQ's say a no reply is a no thank you so probably best not to send another message

You are competing with a large proportion of men for that one lady a large amount of rejection in this form and by way of messaging no thanks is the name of the game, if you can't handle that this probably isn't the best site for you

I understand the no reply, no interest.. But, if it hasn't even been opened, so it's unread, then it could have been missed... Couldnt it??

It could be that they've looked at the first line preview of your message and decided not to open it.

It could be that they looked at your profile before they opened the message and you're not what they're looking for.

It could be that they wade through their inbox once a week.

It could be that they've been chatting to others and your message has fallen off the page.

It could be any number of things but I'd be inclined to not pester someone twice. If they didn't reply to the first message the chances are it's a no.

You could do yourself a favour and delete all your sent items then you'll not know. Or just don't keep checking whether they've been read or not. Move on to the next profile that interests you and drop them a message.

They've clicked on your profile and pics before reading the message and then decided not to meet you xx

I will take your advice and just delete, then, if I get a message back it will be a unexpected bonus... Thanks

In that case why not just delete as well too.

I'm too lazy to delete messages sometimes I just mass delete or let them fall off the end.

... All of the above is very true! Or it could, indeed as you suggested, mean that the original email was missed / bulk deleted etc.

Up to you if you want to try again based on your gut feel I guess!

Occasionally they do get lost in a whole load of messages, I have a few I can't find as I leave messages for S to read and respond to as well so I don't get around to deleting them

Best thing to do - don't get fixated on the people who obviously aren't interested - focus your attention on the ones that are!

If we receive a message then we usually just click on the profile first, if we are not interested in meeting that person then we usually just delete the message without reading it, this is probably what has happened in your case, just take it has a not interested and move on
