A left field post, but wondering if there are any fellow fabbers into their watches? If so would be interested in setting up a chat including those who share an interest or like to show off their collection!

I have a new found interest in watches, the Breitling Navitimer being my all time best looking watch, how about yourself?

I currently own 9 watches, none of the overly copied big brands as I see no point as people will assume its fake anyway.

Generally anything between the 1-2k price range and abscurer makers.

I’ve been collecting for years, I owned 3 Rolex’s, I had a submariner up until this time last year, I got rid of it, my appeal for the brand just isn’t there anymore, they’re such an overrated brand to be honest.

Not really interested in the flash, bling watches but a man with an interesting watch, that's a different story.

Doesn't need to be expensive, just a story attached to it, similar to a nice piece of furniture.

I’ve been collecting an awful lot of Buren Microrotor automatic watches lately, they can only appreciate in value as there isn’t many around due to their rarity.

Good to see others sharing this interest. Definitely on board with not being a fan of the flashy pieces. I love vintage watches, or interesting cases or dials. Smaller brands are always fun too

Couldn’t agree more! Vintage ones are more interesting especially with a nice patina

In the early stages, and certainly not massively expensive but I have an old Omega, a Tag F1 Gulf, a Christopher Ward and a Tissot.

Met a guy who was wearing a watch as a gift from the crew of a ship, engraved with a lovely message.

Had nice shoes too, a class act.

Sometime in the late 80's my friends Dad showed me his collection of watches. He wasn't a collector but had acquired them all as winnings playing cards during his time in the Merchant Navy (I'm guessing it was circa WW2 era). There was 3 or 4 shoe boxes all rammed full of watches, no boxes or protection. I remember there being many or the usual premium brands eg Rolex, Patek Phillipe etc and others I'd never heard of. The one that really caught my eye was a rose gold ladies Carter, the back of which was engraved (can't remember the exact details) but it was a gift from a man to a woman and dated very late 1800's.

Can't imagine how many £'s worth, just sat there getting scratched and gathering dust.

I like a watch and have a small collection. The only ‘big ticket’ piece I have is an Omega speed master automatic.

I have seen a few adds on Instagram for ‘new brand’ watches. The latest being a brand called mer neith? They look really nice. Anyone ever bought one??

Not into the big expensive brands, but have a large collection of older swatches and smaller named brands. However its something that I'm losing interest in thanks to Nick Hayek's policies in ensuring scalpers will forever flourish and true collectors will pay second fiddle to them.

"Out of curiosity if I was to buy a watch as an investment piece to give to my son in say 20 years what would people recommend "

I'd suggest you find quite a few YouTube watch experts opinions on the subject. Go for the one you can afford that most recommend.

I got 4 Rolexs watches.

1 submariner (no date) excellent condition

1 submariner (date) unworn

1 yachtmaster (blue face) unworn

1 daytona (Black face, steel n gold) unworn.

But the funny thing is I don't really collect watches n not something I was looking to get.

Just bought them last year n beginning of this year when pulled out if the stockmarket just before everything went south.

These are an investment for the kids for when I'm dead n gone.

I've had loads of cheap watches over the years but the only quality one I have is a Tag Heuer F1 Senna 25th anniversary edition and I don't wear it for fear of getting mugged

Another fan of the lesser known brands here. I have a glycine and a stowa amongst the collection, which includes TAG, Rolex, Panerai as well as some Seikos. In the past I have had several Christopher Wards, Steinharts, Poljots, Oris etc.

I also like quirky watches, the quirkiest being a single handed watch with 2 time zones. It's a holiday watch as it is most definitely an 'its about half past....' type of timepiece.

Know what you mean - I used to chop and change all the time but now stick to my Garmin just so I can keep the trend data going!

Yep, I keep one, punt it when bored. Currently wearing a Rolex Milguass White Dial, which I'll probably keep for a good bit longer... Looks great on a Rubber B in white or Orange. Fancy another Speedy next.
