I don't know what, where, or in this climate when, but have a look on YouTube for tutorials. I look at makeup ones (aimed mostly at women, but Robert Welsh and Wayne Goss) but I'm sure others exist. Get an idea of what you want to achieve with your look.

I don't mean now or immediately whenever we eventually get back to normality, I have no idea what look to be honest, just want someone to make me look pretty lol. I did it once myself and didn't go too well. I want to complete the look thats all tbh.

Pretty means many different things to different people, though. What does it mean to you?

I may have to look up those you tube tips. I have just muddled my way through to get my look, not sure if it's any good though.

Robert Welsh does a lot on what looks good in person, not just on camera. There are others as well but God he's good.

In all honesty, I'm just a part time Cd who hardly gets time to dress. So makeover for a day sounds ideal. Again to be honest, pretty as in sexy, sultry, seductive, something to match my outfits

I get that. But those things can still mean a lot of things. Do you like a lot of bronzer, a dark tanned look? Red lipstick? Bold eyeshadow? Not those things?

Maybe look at pictures of sexy makeup and see what speaks to you. I've had one makeover where they made me up the way I thought I should look, and I didn't feel sexy because I hated the look. I don't want that for you. What does femme-coded sexy mean to you and on you?

I really like dark eyes, you know smokey eyes, but when I try to do it myself then it goes all sorts of wrong.

Don't you think you need to experiment? Try stuff and see how it looks and make you feel. There is a big bit of trial and error.

Dark smokey eyes are difficult to get right x

My makeover, a lot of people like a look with lots of bronzer. I don't. So I got done up slathered in bronzer because the artist liked it. I couldn't wash it off fast enough.

I understand what you mean, its not as straightforward as applying make up and looking great, truth is I don't know the first thing about makeup, I made the mistake of using faceapp which made me look too unrealistic lol now I'm hoping I look like that knowing I won't

Oh I know it's not straightforward! But the first thing to know, even if you don't try to do anything yourself (and makeup is a skill which requires practice), is what look you're going for. Go onto Google images and look at pictures. What general look are you aiming for? If you don't know that then you risk disappointment.

Yes, know what you mean about bronzer! Look at Trump - not a good look!

I am going to go for a makeover once this is all over and will take your advice and go armed with a lot of photos of looks I like. That will at least give the artist a framework to work from.

Good. And ask questions about how to do it yourself, and practice at home when you can.

Yep - practice is the only thing for it. Your look is a personal thing - takes a bit of time to get it right

Dressing services for a full makeover can cost from £150 -£300 for a few hours, you do get photos as well.

But for that money, you could buy some really great makeup kits and an outfit

Also if you’re considering going out (after lockdown) or meeting others, it’s always better to show a realistic picture of yourself in makeup, than a one off session you had a few months ago.

A quick Google search will bring up the most popular dressing services, if you still want to treat yourself

If your able and feel compfy to talk to other people, when open talk to the make-up girl's/guy's in a large department store, they will help you match foundation to your natural skin colour etc and give you load's of advice.

It's what I did, but also as other's have said, buy some cheap make-up and practise and more practise.

I imagine foundation matching will be challenging with social distancing.

My patience is the first to go!!

I practice and sometimes it looks OK. Think I get the lips good, but around the eyes takes time and a steady hand.

I look at women's eyes and try to get ideas, a certain look is hard to replicate.

Watched a few you tube demos but again I get lost!

Think it's a personal thing, often thought of going to get done by a professional!

Hope you get your look you are after, stay sexy!!

That's so normal. I think I've got a few looks down now, but it takes a lot of practice and patience.

I went into Boots last year and asked the make up assistant to test my skin, gave me the correct skin tone and what foundation and blush to buy

Trying to practice when kids are around isn't easy, teenagers give you little time and drain patience full stop!!
