If they were from the same person - the person has left the site.

Mine have all gone, too. But I had my account suspended yesterday and only just got back - seems for no particular reason.

I understand that messages (that have been read) over a certain age are automatically removed but I wouldn't like to say for sure - I just remember having read it somewhere before
