Hi.

Sometimes I get the feeling a message, although appearing to have been sent, actually hasn’t...but the lack of it being read/responded to could just be because I’m dull and unattractive!?

I’ve seen some people posting that they’ve run out of messages. How do you know if you’ve reached a limit? What is the limit?

Fistly, Only non site supporters have a message limit.

Secondly, your a silver supporter, so you don't have a message limit.

Thirdly, erm.. hi.... erm.... Look, a distraction

"Fistly, Only non site supporters have a message limit.

That's not the case.

quoting Admin from a different thread

""There is more allowance for site supporters. Most people never hit the free limit (by design) so you must send a lot of mail!

... Should also say that the allowances aren't fixed, people whose accounts are more trusted e.g. verified, photo-verified, on the site longer, also get more mails; site supporter *is* part of this "mix".

Every profile on here has a message limit.

You get told that you can't send anymore once you have hit your limit and they reset at midnight.

I had limits in my earlier days but you get informed of hitting your limit, before you can write one - it's not done in arrears, after you have sent one.

It strikes me as potentially about expectations, as messaging isn't regarded by many as real-time instant messaging, where mail from one person is given absolute attention in the now.

It's worth considering that some people have a huge amount of mail that can appear like an alternative to a full time job. They can find it a chore and also have limited time to spend on prospective partner hunting notifications. Sometimes others' expectations can also be inferred as needy or demanding, which can deter them from stoking the fire too rapidly.

IMO it's better to move on to different things or people, once a message is sent, so that you spread your attention and interest. If you get a response, you can then respond to it similarly, at a point that's convenient and appropriate for you.

People often pop in here in random spare minutes, so that they may have some different priorities, such as the forum, not their inbox. If you are at work, looking after someone or doing something else that takes your attention, the thoughts of a person messaging may be very low in your priorities.
