Just wondering if there’s anyway to check with other genuine users if a profile is fake? Also what happens when you report a profile? Do they they get removed? Do they know you reported them? We have found a couple of single female accounts that are obviously fake but also one or two that we are not sure about... seem genuine but as conversation has turned to meeting or pre-meet phone/video chat they have stopped talking which seems suspicious.

There's no 100% foolproof method.

Google reverse image can show you if the profile pics are on other sites, but that's not conclusive, some people have pictures on other sites.

Not continuing a conversation isn't either, people have commitments outside of Fab.

Outright refusing to send confirmation pics or not wanting a phone call are good clues, equally, not foolproof.

If in reasonable doubt, report. But I emphasise "reasonable doubt". Because someone doesn't want to meet or chat doesn't mean they're fake.

Ultimately, go with your gut.....

If i want to chat to people i will gladly send pics. Phone calls are another matter as i dont like giving my number out. Theres guys ive chatted to who ive been convinced are genuine. Arrenged meets and then theyve just deleted their accounts

Yeah we don’t give our numbers out but you can video call with apps without using a phone number. That sucks about guys deleting their accounts after chatting!

Thanks for the advice, very helpful. Yes agree because someone stops chatting doesn’t mean they are fake but as mentioned when it’s stopping due to suggesting further verification it is quite suspicious!

There is no fool proof way, but if you suspect a profile is fake then report it.

The other person won't know you've reported them and admin can look at it and decide what to do.

They don't know you have reported them. Just a person reporting them won't mean they will get thrown off the site

Stopping conversation with someone doesn't mean they are fake

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
