O o O oo

Verifications we try to leave for another user aren't being saved

If you're trying to verify another account that you have created yourself or you're trying to verify someone who is using the same PC as yourself, or you're on the same internet connection, then the verification won't be recorded. We do this to stop people creating fake accounts and verifying them themselves.

Any of the above apply?

The only blocked verification we see was on an internet connection you have shared. These verifications are not saved because sometimes people do this to verify fake accounts (not saying that's the case here).

Can you clarify this Admin?

This seems to give the impression that if you have shared an Internet Connection, then you will NEVER be able to verify each other? Is that the case, or can you later verify each other from different IP's? E.g. I was told, in chat the other night, by one of the Mods*, that they couldn't verify someone that they had met at a social, because they had both used the WiFi when they stayed at the same hotel for the social. Is that actually the case? In a case like this, if a member sends you a message, using the Contact link, and explains the situation, are you able to "manually allow" the verifications?

We don't want to go into details, but in the scenario you describe that the mod talked about, the verification would likely go through OK. There is no concept (now or in future!) of manually allowing verifications that would otherwise be blocked. In a (very) small set of circumstances this may mean valid verifications can't be saved. That is the price we pay for stopping people verifying fake accounts, and we believe it's worth paying.

Agreed!

I just wonder, given the number of threads we see on the subject, whether newbies are being made sufficiently well aware that they shouldn't log onto Fab when on a first meet. I've seen it pretty much suggested before that "if someone wants to check their Fab messages when they're on a meet with you, then they get what they deserve", but I can see plenty of scenarios where it could happen, going into chat to play on cam, showing the other person private pics, etc.

Most of the threads we see, when we look into it in more detail, are from people trying to verify accounts they have created themselves. We don't believe it's a big problem for real verifications. Possibly 1 or 2 are "wrongly" blocked each day out of 1000 verifications from over 80,000 people who use the site daily. Newbies already have a whole host of information to take in on joining the site. We don't want to subject them to more.

You can't verify anyone until you've been verified yourself.
