Profile disappeared.

I recently received a message to which I replied. One day later all details of the contact had disappeared, including; recently looked, the message from the contact and my reply to the message. I’m not bothered about losing the contact but I am baffled as to how a message I received and sent can disappear from my account. Can anybody please explain?

When someone deletes their profile all messages go along with it.
