Can anyone tell me what the blue dot is that you see next to a profile, does it mean they are online or something

Yes, it means tbey are online.

It does mean they're online, but it doesn't mean they are!

I've logged out of this profile & onto our other one, and it's still showing my singles profile online, often for quite a while after.

Online but a time delay, also many dont log out and shows online when they are not

You don't need to be chatting to someone if you're online, they could just be browsing the forum or looking at profiles etc. After you've logged off, I've noticed the blue dot disappears after a few minutes or so x
