If I change my username and someone searches under the old one what will they see? Will they get a message saying 'Username not found' or will they be re-directed to my profile?

I'm asking as a visitor I no longer wish to see keeps turning up at my house. Clearly, he looks to see if I'm online before setting out.

If has you on his friends or hot list and knows you from your profile text he will just see the new username with the old profile. If you have blocked him and he knows your new username and he rejoins and searches for it he will find you.

If you are not on any of his lists or verifications, and he knows and searches for your new username he will find your new user profile, unless you blocked him, (in which case you won't show up) if you changed your username without you being on any of his lists he will not be redirected to you.

Thank you. I've blocked him but I don't know if I'm on any of his lists. I'm hoping that I can change my username and alter enough of the details so he won't be able find me if I'm online. It might stop him turning up and knocking at the door for ages until he realises I'm not going to answer it.

A friend has given me the same advice. It seems a bit extreme, he's actually quite a nice man. Just a bit persistent.

What he's doing is extreme...

If he's making you feel uncomfortable, you must act upon it x

Sounds like a stalker, just update profile and location and delete him from friends etc

Thank you to those who responded. I've sent him a firmly worded message asking him to desist and I think he's got the message.

It's not extreme at all. He's clearly harassing you. Report him to the police so they can log it.

Old enough to know better. I've told him he will be reported to the police if he does it again. He's married and has a lot to lose to so I hope he's got the message.

Remember to follow the threat through, when needed. He might test that theory.

Take care x

I found the police very helpful in a similar situation.
